SO PROUDLY WE HAIL Miss Jane Townsend Principal of G.H.S. A TRIBUTE A teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops. ---Henry Adams She is no ordinary teacher. For almost fifty years she has guided the youth of G. H. S. and leaves an indelible impression upon this community. By her quiet dignity, her deep sincerity, her eaqaert guidance, her wise counseling, and the earnestness and vigor of her teachings, she has helped her students for nearly a half cen- tury to the needful ability to know how best to help themselves. Her influence can never be retired. So, Miss Townsend, we, your students of 1959, and the Alumni of G. H. S. humbly thank you for what you have been to us. We acknowledge with gratitude the debt we owe to your kindness and wisdom. For your widespread and noble influence, we will always revere you. One of your students--Elaine Hewett On April lb, 1959 Miss Townsend was one of seven Kansas educators selected to receive the title of Master Teacher. The Master Teach- er Awards are made annually by Emporia State Teachers College. 3
