Pep Club 2-5-4 Glee Club 2-5-4 Class play 2-4 Athletics 1-5-4 '11 S X 1 ,Iye!' Glass history ' It September of 1948 was a notable time, for that was when the present Senior Class started as Freshmen. There were twelve in our class, but three pupils dropped out before the end of the year. Our freshman class officers were elected as follows: Marilyn Freese, President: lda Mae Shankel, Vice-President, and LeRoy Lucke as Sec- retary-Treasurer. Our first sponsor was M s. Mein. The greenhorns' Cas we Freshmen were calledl first events were freshman initiation and giving a return party for the Sophomores. Toward the end of the year a skating party was held. Nine students started the Sophomore year, but at the semester's end Marilyn Freese transferred to Grant High School. Class officers for the sophomore term were LeRoy Lucke, President: Bob Westhoff, Vice-President, Marilyn Freese, Secretary-Treasurer for the first semester and Helen Wardrip for the second semester. With the aid and guidance of our sponsor, Mrs. Dorothy Price, we initiated the Freshmen and later sponsored a skating party. We started our Junior year with eleven students and Mrs. Eloomcamp as sponsor. The elected class officers were LeRoy Lucke, President: Clarence Allison, Vice-President: Catheryn Weber, Sec- retary, and Harold Headrick, Treasurer. The Junior Play 'The Case of the Missing Heirs' was presented on November 9. Other events were a skating party at Walnut and a weiner roast at Farlington Lake. Of course, the most me orable of our Junior activities was the Junior-Senior Banquet, which carried out a Mother Goose theme. Our decorations, menu, toasts, and mus- ical numbers on the program were all in keeping with the Mother Goose theme. We were served by waiters and waitresses character- izing Little Boy Blue, Little Red Riding Hood, Little Miss Muffet, Old Mother Hubbard, Mistress Mary, Little Jack Horner, Little Bo Peep our sponsor for this, our Senior year, is M s. Mein. Our offi- cers are LeRoy Lucke, President, Helen Wardrip, Vice President: Harold Peadrick, Secretary: and Mary Lou Peterson, Treasurer. The third day of school we proudly accepted our Senior rings.. The production of our annual is our biggest undertaking. As this book goes to press many of our year's activities are still in the future and we are looking forward to class parties, our class play, the Junior-Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate, and Commenc ment. All these will be but a few of the cherished memories we will have of Hepler High when we are out of school and have a few min- utes to think about the good times we used to have. 4- N 5, Prophecy 4 Yjf F' Z, y L 6 N ,f It is prophesied that in Y 1977 we will find our class get members in the following places X and activities, and anyone re- porting their activities in that year would have the following to say! Harold Hendrick has become Sports Editor of the New York Daily Times. IeRoy Iucke is now one of the great scientists in the atomic plant at Oakridge, Tennessee. Mary Lou Peterson is one of the famous models in a New York dress designing shop. Helen Wardrip now sings hill-billy music over television every Sunday night. Catheryn Weber is teaching Home Economics in the University of Ohio. Compliments of Bacon 011 Company, Hepler, Kenna unior giligfory In September of 1949 we moved in. Yes, the old school get a face uplifting! We were a dozen in number. Our officers were: Bud Coons, president: Jack Mosely, vice-president: Audrey Bacon, secretaryg and George Pitzer, treasurer. Mrs. Mein proved to be a very helpful sponsor. On September 21, we got a taste of what it is to be an underclassman---we were initiated lto say the least!! Our return party to the Sophomores was a scavenger hunt on October 24. Then in 1950 it came our time to throw a little weight around. Yes, we were now Sophomores! Mr. Ornelas, our sponsor, helped us select our officers. These officers were: President - George Pitzerg Vice-President - Audrey Bacon: Secretary - Sara Modicag Treasurer - Donna Alley. We put the freshmen through as much agony as possible on the night of initiation. They reciprocated with a hay rack ride on September 20. Some say the third time is a charm---well, it is for us. We opened our Junior year with eight members. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Bloomcamp for our sponsor. The first big event of the year was the Junior play on November 16. 'Hue name of it was 'Ready-Made Family. It turned out, much to our surprise, a success! On December 12, we threw an invitation square dance. Every- one had fun - even the board members and the faculty! We are represented on the H1-lights staff by five of our members---Donna Alley, Audrey Bacon, Bud Coons, George Pitzer, and lee Wiggins. We are all interested in athletics. Lee Wiggin ls-the boys bhaketba1l manager. George Pitzer and Bud Coons are tyo outstanding players on the boysf first basketball team. All in girls athletics. Sara Medica and Audrey the girls first basketball team of which Alley are substitutes. Nearly all of us the music department. the girls participate Bacon are regulars on Vivian Hamm and Donna atb active members in We are all looking forward to a formal Junior-Senior Banquet in the Spring. d . On September 19, the Sophomores initiated one Frosnm The girls WGTQ to Wear gunny sack dresses with a bone in en' their hair. The boys were to wear short dresses, a big green bow in their hair, and carry a doll or baby bottle. Ve all had a lot of fun and nobody was killed. At a meeting early in the year the rose was chosen as our :lass flower with red and white as our class colors. We chose the motte 'The Road Called Work leads to the City Called Success. S O P H O M O R E As Freshmen we started off with a class of twelve, Early in the year we elected our officers: President, David Birdy Vice-Pres- dent, Norman Haysg Secretary, Jolene Attklssong Treasurer, Norma Lee Lowe: and Sponsor, Mrs. Neihart. On the 12th of September we were initiated by the Sophomores. We returned the party with a hayrack ride. At the end of our year we had eleven students, as Jim Westhoff had quit school. In the beginning of our Sophomore year we gained three new students--John Harris, Irene Bethel, and Bill Schulte. Bill Schulte quit school in December and later Irene Denier enrolled with us. Again, our class numbered fourteen. This year we got to have the fun! We did the initiating. Also this year we are represented on the cheerleading sauad by Tilley Brewery on the paper staff by Jolene Attkisson, orma Lee Lowe, and Tilley Brewer: and among the pep club officers by Norma Lee Lowe. We are looking forward to two more fun-filled years.
