X, XQ R ' sf- gpawgeiia , N S I disszzr' In September of 1947 twenty-three of us started to dear old Hepler High as 'Green Freshmen.U We had heard quite a bit about the rough life freshmen led, but it really wasn't as bad as people had told us, Of course, the soph- omores weren't exactly nice when they initiated us, but we lived through lt. Soon after school started we elected George Lucke as our president, George Highfill as vice-president, Richard Boatright as secretary-treasurer, and chose Mrs. Mein for our sponsor. Later in the year we gave the mean old sophomores a return party. We were much nicer to them than they were to us, so everyone must have had a mar- velous time. In the spring we had a skating party. Everyone was learning to skate and having a good time in spite of the falls, In 1948 twenty of us come back through the doors of Hepler High as nS1lly Sophomores.U The teachers had to re-initiate us into studying, but this year we got to initiate those freshmen and did we have fun! Oh, boy! This year our class officers were: George Lucke, presldentg Margaret Hunlng, vice-presidentg and Ruth Hardin, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Bloomcamp was our sponsor. Later in the year the freshmen gave us a very good time at their return party. We presented an assembly program on November ll. It was in the form of a radio program. In the spring we had another roller skating party. This one was a little more fun than the last, perhaps because we could skate a little better. There were still twenty of us as we began our year as Juniors, but some of them were new faces. This year George Lucke was again elected president, Joyce ward was vice- president, Ruth Hardin was secretary, and Margaret Huning was treasurer. Mrs, Bloomoamp was our sponsor and were we glad to have her! She really helped us in our many activities. One of our first activities of the year was presenting our Junior play, We picked UCom1n' 'Round the Mounta1n,n a story of funny business in the hills, The whole class participated in the play. During the year we had two parties. One was a skating party and the other was a weiner roast. Both were a lot of fun. On May 5, we took the seniors to Holland with us by way of the junior- senior banquet, The seniors were surprised with a program presented by MrS. Haderleinss dancing School, After the program everyone enjoyed folk dancing. Now we are a group of fifteen proud seniors. About the middle of September we received our class rings and were we proud! Now we were seniors in every sense of the word, including the gleam on our fingers, Our class officers this year are the same as last year. Mrs. Mein is our class sponsor, and we wish to say NThanks for everythlngg you've been a lot of hel .H og October 17, we went to Kansas City to the American Royal. It was a lot of fun and a brand new experience for us all, In October we started on our yearbook and has it been work! But we believe it will be the best yet when we get it done. A11 is not yet said and done, however. Before we walk across the stage to receive our diploma,on the night of commencement, we will have participated in class parties, the Senior play, Junior-Senior Banquet, Sneak Day, and Baccalaureate, and each one of these will have added its special share to our joys and memories. At any time from 5 to 25 years from now one speaking in that time might say: Garrold Grays has now taken over the 0lBryan ranch near Hiattville. H th Hardin is now running a day nursery in Kansas City. C. W. Harris has met a nice little girl in Pratt, Kansas, The last we heard he was a successful wheat farmer. John Hays is still on the loose. He is a little mixed up on his math--he can't make up his mind whether he likes the figures around Hepler, Hiattville, or Walnut best. George Highflll is now Girls' Athletics Coach at Uniontown. Jerry Howell is now running a sporting goods store in Girard. Hepler High is one of his best customers. Margaret Hunlng is now a holder of a couple of college degrees and is still trying to decide between marriage and a career. George Lucke: Of course you have heard of the new HGeorge Lucke Hybrid Cornn. George developed it on his farm near Hepler. Silva McDaniel has now married her old heart throb, Mike Mod1ca,and is now living in Arizona. Richard Meyer is now a successful wheat farmer near Wichita. The rest of his future is rather hazy iso is Richardl. Bob Pitman is a big business man now managing one of the Pitman chain stores which is located in Hepler, Kansas. Edward Thorsen is now a missionary in Africa and is trying to convert the natives lHe still has a surprised look on his face!! Joyce Ward is a very sedate and refined society leader in Hepler. There never was and never will be anything silly about Joyce. Billy Wardrip is now on his way to California--and he 1sn't looking for gold. Betty Winterbower is now a prominent seamstress and designer in Paris. 5l5.2KGf13'-S8h?'JTaL7fC i'.Jk'ZlIZ49!-iiHM .Bic U4 'fi.'6-.151-wiv!!!-lil'-5-VM? zffiiwilf-'55 5.2: Ewllkb 'D ' 5:5655 E! li:v'BW'i-ENB-'hll'Y?lME'h'NiHQRNB A 1 I 1 I 'N Glass will We, the Senior Class of 1951, composed of fifteen individual parts, each with a body and mind--whether sound or unsound--do will and bequeath the following traits to the parties of the second part in the hope that they do not fall Napartn before they become Seniors. History A As Freshmen we began the school year with twelve.1n our class, but three of these students dropped out before the end of the year. Soon after school started we elected Marilyn Freese as president, Ida Mae Shankel as vice-president, and LeRoy Lucke as secretary-treasurer. Our sponsor for our first year in high school was Mrs. Mein, and we were very proud to have her for our sponsor. The first social event of our high school career was Freshman initiation, A good time was enjoyed by all. We then gave a return party for the Sophomores. As Soohomores we started out with nine students, but lost Marilyn Freese at the end of the first semester when she moved with her parents to Stark. The officers who were elected in our Sophomore year are as follows: LeRoy Lucke, presldentg Bob Westhoff, vice-president: and Marilyn Freese as secretary-treasurer. When Marilyn moved to Stark, Helen Wardrlp was elected as the new secretary-treasurer. We initiated the Freshmen on September 2l. The Freshman Glass then gave a return oarty. Both vartles were enjoyed by all. A party was nlanned by the Sophomore Class for April 20. It was an invi- tation skating party, and everybody enjoyed the usual good time. We started our Junior year in September with eleven students. The class elected the following as class officers. LeRoy Lucke, presidentg Clarence Allison, vice-presidentg Catheryn Weber, secretaryg and Harold Headrick, treasurer. The Junior Class is very happy to have Mrs. Bloomcamp as their sponsor, On November 9 the Junior Class presented the play, UThe Case of the Missing Heirs . All members of the Class participated in the Inlay. A wonderful time was had by all. Advertisements received from Hepler and neighboring towns helped in making the play a success. The biggest event of the year will be the Junior-Senior Banquet which will be held sometime ln the Spring. L 'wT'!G'I'7w51K'-'Hifk'!'! hf5TK!lIi-'L'A fl1iHB U.AldRMi5m !'k.?til..
