Our sincere compliments to the Senior Class on your 1948 yearbook. Throughout the coming years nay it bring back memories of your many friends and teachers, some of whom you may never see again after once parting. but in the years to come, may you often relive and remember the joys and sorrows of your school days and especially the interests and activities of your senior year. Never forget for a minute the ideals and plans you have set for yourselves, and never forget that your friends, your teachers and your country need and expect the best that you have to give. So, our best wishes for long and happy lives to all of you as you travel down the long, long trail, and think of us here in Girard and know that we are thinking of you. We hope that your memories of G. H. S. will be fond and lasting, and along with the friends and teachers who share your thoughts, we hope that you will not for- get your l948 school board. CAREER DAY Career Day which was held Monday, Feb. 2, is a phase of a guidance program sponsored by the Girard schools for the purpose of helping the student select the career best suited for him. Assisting with the program were 29 experienced men and women of var- ious professions and occupations able to explain the field, offer suggestions, and answer questions. J. S. Todd, president of the local school board, gave a short address to the student body on the importance of choosing a career. Then the students met in various groups of their choice with an advisor to discuss and answer questions about the career in which they were most interested. At the conclusion of the department meetings a general assembly was called for the purpose of hearing a report by a student selected from each department. These reports gave the high lights of each department meeting. Mrs. Edith Murray, Miss Martha Koppius, Dr. R. H. Smith, Dean Otis Mumaw, Dr. Black, Dr. O. B. Gentry, Mr. Roy Sauer, Dr. E. J.
