Message from dr. Keller To the Class of 1984: It is always difficult to say, “Goodbye,” and I have given you all the advice I have to offer. Ican honestly say that you have grown and matured tremendously in the last few months of your senior year. Individually and as a class you possess considerable talent and potential in many and varied areas. You have begun to recognize your personal responsibility for developing that potential and to open yourselves to others who can and want to assist you. You are entering a new and far more competitive arena whether it be college, technical school, or the work force. You will be judged almost solely on two related criteria - attitude, and results. American businesses and institutions have been floundering under the burden of low productivity. By that, I mean workers and producers are not committed to doing their best on the job, of turning out the finest product possible, of giving of themselves beyond what is absolutely required of them. Pride is the rather old- fashioned word for what is lacking - pride in oneself, in the product of one’s skill and labor. There are many signs that the situation is beginning to change. You will have a great advantage if you decide that, to paraphrase the Reverend Jesse Jackson, you are somebody, if you are proud of who and what you are, and if you will settle for no less than the best you are capable of doing whether it be on an acedemic assignment or a job assignment. You have my fondest best wishes. May God bless each of you. George H. Keller, Jr. Director of Education
