They have given to you all that they could of their understanding, their experience, and their knowledge. You know by now that their purpose has been to give your lives fuller and deeper meaning and to develop in you the qualities and abilities which are the strength of our American democracy. You leave us with an eager sense of a new freedom. We sincerely hope that your yea s at Girard have imbued you with the knowledge that freedom is universally balanced by responsibility.
