Ernest Peddicord Ernest was a member of the 1951 class until after his junior year when he joined the Marine Corp. He is stationed in Japan where he is drill instruc- tor of a parachute division. 2734 05 -.' 2 !6t55 08141 A is for Arlys. A bright girl is she. Her favorite letter? Why, of course, it is Udu. B is for Betty, a cute little chick, To soldiers and sailors, she is always their pick. B is for Bruner, she's picked her mate. She's filling her hope chest as of late. C is for Charleston, an old dance turned new. How many of us can do it? Why, just a few. D is for Denzil and where is he? Just look for Donna and there he'll be. D is for Dunn who has a special hair style. He never studies but fiddles all the while. E is for excellent, the standard of our class. We wouldn't brag, cause it takes too much brass. F is for finale, this is our last year. We've gone through 12 long years, all in high gear G is for Gangstad who's writing this poem. She has no rhyme talents but decided to show-em. H is for Hamersly, now everyone knows her. Why, I've seen that girl type nigh past sixty per. H is for Hutch, with the WHO-ho-hon laugh. He doesn't like English, but he does like his math I is for innocent. We seniors were. To find a class better, one would travel nfern. J is for Junior, a jolly, young boy. K is for the kindnesses we've shown to youg We hope you'll remember it and pass it on too. L is for Linn. He loves to wrestle. Certain out-of-town girls think he's their special 62734 C L is for Lois. Now she has moved. But she made us twenty, so she we'll include. Algebra was one subject he just couldn't stand. S is for the sugar, the spice we seniors had. At times we were spunky, but never real bad. T is for Trouse. You can hear him anywhere. But if ever in need, call on him. He'll be right there. U is for the uncanniness in our group of twenty, Our talents weren't limited. We had plenty. V is for vale which means Nfarewellu. V Most of us won't be around anymore for quite a long spell. W is for Wallace, who has that Hmovie starn look. He likes to read the funnies but not just any old book. Y is for our yearbook. We'1l cherish it forever. We have tried to make it interesting as well as nice and clevms Z is for the zeal that we seniors have Jgotu. We leave with you just three little words, NForget Us Notn. 62734 Z My . im: Judi an lgfamenf The rememberable class of '51 has a number of peculiar traits. Due to their overabundance in this field, they are giving to the underclassmen and teachers some of the characteristics they will no longer need. In accordance with the above statement we do now state: Being of mental insanity and physical exhaustion, we the seniors of 1951 do hereby will the following: To Pat Cavanaugh, Roy Wiegert wills his car and his out-of-town connections. Watch it, Boy! To Darrell DeGroote Tom Wallace wills his ability to sleep late and still make it to school before the last bell. Big help! To Ronald VanSickle, Don Whittlesey wills his nCome Hither Smileug it really WOWS the ladies! To George Taylor, Hugh Linn wills his ability with figures. Any kind of figures you want will be alright! To Richard Dershimer, Neva Gangstad wills her ability to play the piano with two hands it's better then with one finger! To Marcia Martens Rollin Davis wills his happy-go-lucky attitude. Remember two birds of a feather always go together. H To Joy CTalulahaD Stearns, Richard Moline wills his feminine voice To Pauline Sinnett, Tom Dunn wills his ability to look innocent at all times. Gets you out of a lot of scrapes. To Donna Frank, Denzil Wiemers wills his class ring and a reserved seat in his car. Honor them forever. To Janet Jacobson, Darlene Martens wills her book HHow to Clean Diamond Ringsn. Looks like you're going to need it! To Marlene Terwilliger, Daryl Hutchinson wills his driving ability. Thoughtful, don't you think? To Marlyn Ahlrich, Junior Hinrichs wills his friendly relations with the freshmen girls. Beware gals! To Mary Bradley, Arlys Halligan wills her 4H baby beeves. I hope you like them as much as I do. To Dolores Folk, Ruth Bruner wills her cute dimples. Boys really go for them, just try them! To Orville Landmesser, Donna Hamersly wills her ability to wear two different kinds of shoes. Embarrassing isn't itl? To June Warren, Joan Peters wills her editorship of the Nu-z. 1'm sure you will find it as interesting and inspiring as I did. To Sewell VanAlstine, Joe Jacobson wills his place on the football team. It's much better then being water boy! To Jeane Carman Cas one twin to anotherb, Norman Taylor wills his sister for her brother. Who likes girls anyway?! To Beverly Henrichs, Betty Stoulil wills her inconvenient blushes and witty remarks. No further comment needed! To the teachers, the senior class wills their studious manner and their promise to come back to school and show them the bright side of life for a change. To the freshmen and sophomores, we will our athletic ability Cpool hall included? our motto--never drive with lights when you can drive without them our ability to do as little as possible, our debts, reputation and old test papers. Signed 62734 C., 3 ,t TIME HARCHES Back: Yes, time marches back to the year 1940. As we look in the win- dow, we find the first graders hard at work. The first bright little face we view is that of Tommy'Dunn. Tom is busy pasting Ruthie Bruner between the wall and curtain, but he is having trouble because Ruthie keeps eating the paste. She looks a little undernourished, don't you think? In the corner we find little Donna Hamersly sitting in the block box Cbumpy tool. It seems that she was caught coloring Norman Tay- lor's hair with chalk dust. The teacher, for reasons, didn't seem to approve. Looks like Donna will have a long time to figure it out Nevie Gangstad and Roy Wiegert were just sent to the front of the room to nperformn. Nevie thinks she can shake her head faster, but Roy disagrees. The race is on! Denzil Wiemers is sitting fwith the aid of three pillowsl in his desk, while Don Whittlesey is doing his lessons standing up, for the same reason. They have just returned from a Hman to mann talk with Nthat Mann in the office. Heck, why can't we throw mud balls? Jonie Peters is busy running Con her hands and kneesb after Hughie Linn Con his kneesl. She thinks it's still May basket day and Hugh doesn't dare get near enough to tell her it's not. Looks like we are going to have a track team in future years. We find Rollie Davis and Tommy Wallace looking a little sun tanned and much to our surprise we find that while they are painting with black walnut paint they stuck their heads in to get a better view. The teacher informs us the Wlittle darlingsn are now tanned on both ends. Singe this is recreation period, Joie Jacobson and Junior Henrichs are recreating or should we say recreating. Equipped with their little hammers they have successfully Ufixedn the pencil sharpener. Of course, it doesn't work, but it sure takes up a lot less space and can openers are very convenient instruments. Darleen Martens and Arlys Halligan are playing dress-upg they are attired in lovely high heels and their mother's discarded dresses. Dicky Moline is protesting loudly--they're using him as a baby, and he had to be tied into the carriage. He surely looks cute in his little pink bonnet. Darylie Hutchinson, dressed in a cowboy suit is riding the broom around the room lassoing all objects not tied down. His six guns are so heavy that his trousers are hanging at a precarious angle. Looks like HDragalong Cassidyn will never make it west in this shape. Shy little Betty Stoulil is quietly standing in the corner with big tears running down her dirty face. She didn't Clike so muchb mean to spill a box of tacks on teacher's chair. Besides she was going to pick them up--sometime. 4 73 ' S2 X K Playmates He loves them all!! Stringin' up Dows!! ' QB- H1911 GIRL-Q' BASKETBALL This has been the first year of competition for the Gilmore City Jr. High Tigerettes. Most of their practice was during their regular physical education class which meets only twice a week. The squad which was made up chiefly of eighth graders, also included sixth and seventh grade girls. This group shows great promise and after a year or two of high school experience they are going to give someone some real competition. QP . J ., 155 H M 2734 J S Back Row: J. Stoebe, D. Reetz, G. HIGH BOYS' BASKETBALL This year's junior high boys' basketball squad in- cluded the sixth, seventh and eighth grade boys. This is their second year of competition. All of the prac- tices have been after school usually on high school game nights. The boys playing this year had very little exper- ience last year, but what they lack in experience, they make up for'in enthusiasm. The record this season has not been outstanding however they have gained some good exgergence that should be valuable to the boys in high sc oo . The squad participated in the Eagle Grove Invita- tional Tournament and the Boone Valley Tournament. Back Row: Mr. Frey Director, J. Campbell, C. Cirks, W. Shreve, S. Walsh, J. Stearns, S.
