Fall and Winter Banquet Sunday, November 9, 1980, the Fall Sports Banquet was held in the Wolcott Center. The meal was a potluck supper. The Booster Club and Pat Cavanaugh furnished the dessert. Coach Ron Sorenson presented the volleyball and softball awards. Volleyball Softball Captains: Cherene Hanson, Pat Nielsen 1st Team All Conf.: lenny Shelgren Most Improved Player: Verna Thruston 1st base Most Valuable Player: jenny Shelgren 2nd Team All Conf.: Nancy Benjamin 1st Team All Conf.: lenny Shelgren 2nd Shelgren 2nd base Honorable Mention: Kallie Harris ludy Marchant 3rd base Baseball awards were presented by Coach Ron Bollmeyer. Baseball: 1st Team All Conf.: Bruce lohnson, 3rd base: lim Stein, outfield. Honorable Mention: Eldon lohnson, pitcher: lim Peters, shortstop: Dan Vote, catcher. The six varsity football cheerleaders received gold football pins and champion bars in honor of the conference championship. They were presented by their sponsor, Carol Riggins. Coaches Tom Beacom, Kevin Dane, and Bob Stensland awarded the football team with their awards. Football:1st Team All Conf.: Scott Altman, defensive back: Steve Hutchinson, defensive back: Mark Dunn, offensive guard and defensive linebacker: Allen Myers, defensive lineman: Todd Weaver, defensive end: lohn Hacker, offensive end. 2nd Team All Conf.: Dean Elderidtgfe, offensive back: Doug Nelson, quarterback: Dick Carman, center: Eldon lohnson, o ensive end. Honorable Mention: Larry Lanus, Kyle Thurston, Gary Millang. Mark Dunn, Scott Altman, and lohn Hacker were also recognized as recipients of the Honor- able Mention on the All State Team. On March 22, 1981, the Winter Sports Banquet was held in the Wolcott Center. Miss Riggins recognized the varsity basketball and wrestling cheerleaders. Coaches Bob Stensland and leff Krause recognized the lr. High basketball boys and presented awards to the Varsity and l.V. teams. To wrap up the evening, Mark Dunn gave a speech on the ambitions and achievements of the GC-B Letterman's Club.
