19 2122255.52 RESOIUTIOVS, 1944 Twenty-three years have elapsed and gaged in a second World War. A war which continue to touch, practically every home We are ever mindful of the sacrifices ...... 44.... find ourselves en- touching, and will the land 0 made by our fathers at Flanders Field. They gave their lives for a worthy cause in- deed, but somewhere along the way they have been betrayed. We are determined to make it our unbounded duty that this does not happen again. We at Gilman are justly proud of our fine list of service men and women who are at this moment scattered on the many bat- tle fronts of the world to fight stubbornly against the fierce attacks by our enemies. Many of us at home still don't realize what our men and women in uniform are going through, giving their sweat and blood, so that some day they can come back to their land of freedom. We have sympathy for those who have received telegrams from the War Department telling of their loved ones, killed, wounded, prisoners of war, or missing in action. They take their sad reports as real soldiers on a battle front would. We know they are seeking in troubled dreams for peace, content- ment, and comfort. We have fought many times for an eternal peace. Why is it there is no place for such a peace when this world of ours is full of fun and laughter? Selfish greed for power of certain mad men is the cause for much of our despair. Their thoughts aren't with those who strugyle in life. God doesn't exist to them. Dictatorshlp instead of freedom is desired by them. A tomorrow will come when there shall be freedom for all the people all over the world. Fear, hatred and ignorance will be driven out, and future generations will have a great debt to repay. We of the present time can begin to make our contribu- tions for a better world for the future by making every possible sacrifice that may be asked of us. We are resolved never to surrender until an Armistice Day is in sight which shall mean peace and justice for all.
