Z af Z ' The Gillespie Community Unit School Board is made up of seven members elected by the people for our district, No more than three board members can be elected from any one township as provided by the Illinois Legislature. These men are responsible for determining the general policies of our school sys- tem. Mr. Charles Simcox serves as president and Mr. Melvin Poteet as secretary. These officers were elected by the school board from their members. The Board of Education meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the High School. All meetings are open to the public. The Superintendent of the School Unit, Mr. Emery Martin, the Principal of the grade schools, Mr. Marvel Duncan, and the high school principal, Mr. Michael Vertic- chio meet with the Board of Education to assist in forming policies, rules and regulations for the school system. The Board of Education puts in many long hours without salary or finance, trans- portation, building, circulation, personnel and other phases of our school program.
