. . . . Our high school was built in 1918 for a cost of 3145, 000. The two-story, brick building has 16 class rooms, a cafeteria, an auditorium and library, principa1's office, superintendent's office, a men's lounge and ladies' lounge, furnace room and toilet facilities. A gymnasium was added in 1929 at a cost of 338, 000. Ever since its construction Gillespie has had the best gymnasium in Macoupin County. Each year the Macoupin County Basketball Tournament and Music Festivals are held in our gymnasium.

4- ,f sw QW Our curriculum includes standard academic courses in English, history, mathematics, science, etc., and in addition, shop, business, home economics, physical training, agricul ture, chorus and band. Our campus includes a football field, a baseball field and a parking area. The Gillespie Community High School receives grade school graduates from three schools in our district, the Big Brick in Gillespie, St. Simon and Jude in Gillespie and the Wilsonville Grade School. The Gillespie Community High School is recognized as an accredited high school by both the Illinois State Department of Public Instruction and the North Central Association of Secondary Schools. -.- 7
