Homecoming 1976 Homecoming '76 began with a bonfire on Fri- day night. Neil Gholson and Manuel Mouris in the tradition of the Olympics carried torches to light it. The previous week spirit chains were sold by the Pep Club. Students bought them and signed their names to them. These were joined together and pulled apart at the bonfire. Ann Via won free tickets to the Homecoming Dance because her name appeared on the torn chain. The following day Gill suffered a defeat at the hands of Nansemond-Suffolk, but this was no indication of the Blue Devils’ ability. The parade of floats was held before the game. The Senior Class float captured first place. During half- time Debbie Bishop was crowned Homecoming Queen by Mr. Gill and Kim Dawson, the Queen of 1975. Barbara Bass was chosen as the maid of honor. The Homecoming Dance, ‘‘Harvest Moon”’, sponsored by the S.C.A. concluded the Home- coming festivities of 1976. That's my girl! 20 Activities
