The S.C.A. and sponsors Rugene Paulette and Susan In- gram began the year prepar- ing for Homecoming activities. Although most outside ac- tivities were rained out, the Homecoming Dance, which was the big event, was a tremendous success. The S.C.A. participated in several money-making projects _ in- cluding several bake sales and a car wash. Although the S.C.A. has had little voice in school activities that directly influence the students, they have and will continue to work toward their goals. Due to rain, a pep rally in front of the gym replaced the traditional bon fire. Also, the rain converted our new football field into a ‘‘mud bowl”’ which could not ‘‘live’’ through the yearly homecoming pa- rade. Even through all these natural disasters, this year’s homecoming was not a total loss be- cause of the spirit of the students at Gill. Our Blue Devils won 43-6 over Ravenscroft. The Gill School Bluecoats, our riding team, high- lighted the half-time activities on Saturday. Kim Dawson was crowned Homecoming Queen from a vast harem of princesses. The Homecoming Dance—‘‘Saturday in the Park’’—ended not the best homecoming in Gill history, but not the worst. 36 Activities Activities 37 1975 Prom Fantasy Over The Rainbow On the evening of May 17, 1975, the seniors entered “Fantasy Over the Rainbow,’’ which has become an everlasting memory to all who attended the prom. The juniors (Class of '76) did a superb job in creating ‘‘Fan- tasy Over the Rainbow’’. Weeks and weeks of designing and building resulted in fantastic decorations. Before the prom, many couples dined at fancy restau- rants around Richmond such as ‘‘The Top of the Tower”’. After crossing a white, wooden bridge covered with greenery and flowers, couples entered this new world of fantasy. From eight until twelve, couples danced by the waterfall (with real running water), under the huge oak trees which also served as refreshment stands, and around the beautiful flower gardens. The excellent mu- sic of Spanky encouraged everyone to bump and boogie. As the glorius night continued, Tim Cecil and Katey Hall were chosen as King and Queen of the prom. The evening was completed when many couples attended breakfast at the homes of their friends and then went on to a party at Pat Bland’s house. Sadly, yet reminiscing, everyone who visited ‘‘Fantasy Over the Rainbow” will agree that it was the most won- derful and truly the best prom Gill School will ever have. 38 Activities “And the Crowd Goes Wild... .”’ Activities 39 ei Leva Gil lee Football No. 1 Fifi teaches new typing tricks “Shake, anyone? 40 Activities ...
