HARTY We gratefully dedicate our 1974 yearbook to a person, whose humility, unselfishness and loyal devo- tion to both the students and faculty, is unsurpassed. She possesses an empathy for our needs, an aspirin for our headaches, a kind word for our woes, a soothing touch for our bruises; and a receptive ear to our problems. It would be unlikely that one could find another person so wonderful and so concerned to those of us who are associated with Gill School, as Mrs. Harty. : : t i : : : Ul Behind closed doors. . . This year’s bookstaff is the finest the school has ever had. This select group has combined time and hard work to produce the biggest and best yearbook in the history of Gill School. The staff has used their brute force and winning person- alities to throw a pile of pictures on paper. Undoubtedly, without this charming group of students, this yearbook would be much worse. Gill School’s First Prom—Huge Success The first annual Gill School Junior-Senior Prom was held this year on May 25 in the multi-pur- pose room of the E. Gray Bowles Building. Although the prom was held in the multi-purpose room, the Junior class (this year’s Se- nior class) did a marvelous job of promoting the theme of “Outer Space”, through their use of life- like decorations. Planets and stars zoomed about the room on a black sky, while a mirror ball sparkled on the floor and ceiling, entrancing the elegantly attired dancers. The band for the gala affair, Sebastian and Company, was the best Gill School has ever had. The evening was complete when, after the prom, most of the couples went out to dine at the Top of the Tower, a glamorous restaurant in downtown Richmond. 23 Pep Club Bottom: Beth Goldman, Anne James, Julie Johnson, Melody Duvall. Although the turnout was not as large as expected, the girls tried hard and had fun learning the fun- damentals of the sport. Coached by Miss Linda Sheppe, the team had a busy schedule which included par- ticipating in the Tidewater Tourna- ment, where they defeated Trinity and played very well against St. Gertrude’s and Marymount. There was a unanimous vote for Janet Rice as Most Valuable Player and Karen Butterworth as Most Im- prove. Next year promises a win- ning season for the team. ‘ne! spe phere ne 109 Spring Sports Varsity Baseball 1973 ae ae kati eitty ane 4 ie iy v Seated: Tommy Bulifant, Chris Link, Jim Beasley, Donny Koch, Terry Byrd, Kenny Marny, Jerry Umberger, Charles McCoull.
