Mr. Coulson Liked, Respected in First Year at G.H.S. Mr. Curtis G. Coulson, Principal of Giles High, earned his B. A. degree from Lynchburg College and his M.Ed. degree from the University of Virginia. Before coming to Giles High School he served as principal of an elementary school in Christians burg. He now makes his home in Pearisburg with his wife, Patsy, and two boys, David and C. G., Jr. Mr. Coulson has capably and efficiently handled the problems of Giles High. One of his most admir- able traits is the friendly and sincere interest he takes in the students. We hope that this year will be his first of many pleasant years as Principal of Giles High School.

Mr. Conner Excels as Assistant Principal A graduate of Concord College, Mr. Larry Conner first taught and coached at Princeton Junior High School. In 1965, he came to Giles as Physical Education instructor and head basketball coach. Mr. Conner has served as Assistant Principal since September, 1966. He now lives in Pearisburg with his wife and three sons. Whether as athletic director, regulator of attendance, disciplinarian, or assistant to the Principal, Mr. Conner ' s strong, yet fair, handling of problems has gained him high re- spect. Guidance Helps Students Plan Their Futures A strong point in the faculty of Giles High is the Guidance Department, where Mrs. Jean Bane and Miss Pam Croy take an active interest in each student. In scheduling, each student is given expert advice as to which cur- riculum would be best for him. Group guidance sessions and personal conferences aid students in determining their futures. Between them, Mrs. Bane and Miss Croy possess such a vast amount of knowledge that they can help one solve almost any school problem. iff Director of Guidance MRS. JEAN H.
