S., '53 The coaches of the Pulaski Bobcat Team played an important part in the line seasons the team has had throughout these four years. They have won 31. lost 9. and tied 4. This is a record for the seniors to be proud of. The Bobcats started oll' the season by tying Loretto on our field 7-7. Prior to this we had beaten this team three times. The Bobcats then journeyed to Shelbyville to play supposedly the top team in Middle Tennessee. Pulaski scored quick- ly on Cotton Murray's 10-yard gallop down the sideline. Gordon scored and Pulaski was oil to a line start, but Shelbyville proved too strong for the inexperienced line and went on to win 25-7. Pulaski fought a strong Mt. Pleasant team all the way and defeated them 19-11 in a thriller. Both teams had a touch- down called back in the last half. The Lewisburg Tigers came to Pulaski and went back with a 19-0 defeat. All the cats played a good defensive game. Pulaski went to Franklin and came back on the short end of a 33-6 score. Russell scored in the last quarter for Pulaski. ' Pulaski won over Centerville 25-7. This season ended the contract with Lynnville. The Bobcats beat them four straight years. This year 33-0. Pulaski met the hard-hitting Manchester team on the Red Raiders playing grounds. Manchester scored first and on a desperation play jimmy Snow latched on to a Gordon pass to tie the game 7-7. Pulaski next went to Fayetteville and was turned back 14-6. Snow again scored for Pulaski. Then came the homecoming game against Rogersville on November 7. This was a cold night but a hard-hitting Pulaski eleven defeated the Tigers 23-6. Captain Bobby Rich crowned Beverly Berry Queen of foomall. All past records were put aside as the Wildcats from Lawrenceburg came to Pulaski and were sent home tame Kittens. The cowbell is again residing in Giles County. Pulaski was leading 11-12 and Billy Pigg ran Hfty yards down the middle to the one yard line. This clinched the game and a high-spirited Pulaski eleven were the proud winners. Pulaski-273 I.awrenceburg-12. Here are the total scores for: PULASKI OPPONENTS 181 125 The annual football banquet came on December ll. Players, Managers, and cheerleaders, with their dates: coaches, faculty members, and Dr. and Mrs. R. B. Stone, were invited. Coach Deere served as master of ceremonies and awarded the letters as he told the outstanding qualities of each player. The seniors later received gold footballs. They finished the regular season with a 9-7 record and Minor Hill was the only district team to beat them. Wfhen tournament time came, the Bobcats were the favorites, but a high-spirited and hot-shooting Minor Hill team beat them on two free throws after the Final buzzer, 59-57. They never gave up even though the odds were greatly against them in many games. They beat such teams as Mt. Pleasant, Lawrenceburg, and Shelbyville, losing only two games the entire season. These were the games against Lawrenceburg early in the season and the sky-scraping Flintville team in the Regional VI Finals. Very superior coaching, teamwork, and the desire to win enabled the girls to beat a powerful Petersburg six to take the winner's trophy in the district and to accept the runners-up trophy in Region VI.
