First I decided to drop in at Hollywood and see if by any chance some of them had landed in the movies. As soon as I entered the set at Warner Brothers Studio, whom should I see but Miss Velda Beckley. Velda had come to Hollywood for a visit about three years after school was out and dght away a producer saw her and thought she would be just perfect for his next picture. Velda and I immediately went into a huddle and started reminise - ing. After leaving Miss Beckley, I decided I was hungry and should have breakfast. I saw a restaurant down the street and hastened toward it. As I entered, I heard a loud wolf call and a shrill whistle. I looked around to see who was so smart and got ready to slug him with my purse. To m sur- prise it was none other than Beryle Buschman. He had the poor waitress on needles and pins because he was leaning over the counter so far. He came over and we exchanged a few words. I asked him about his marital status. He said he was still single, but thought he had finally found a victim. He was engaged to a sweet little chick with blonde hair and brown eyes. They were to be married when she set the date. I hurried across thc street to my helicopter and soon I was back in good old Indiana. I made m way toward Gilboa and found myself hovering over the heel Homestead: Glancing around over the landscape, I saw over on the fence an overalled and strawhatted figure. I couldn't tell whether it was a scare crow or the hired man. Upon landing I found that it was none other than Ivan himself. While we were talking, we heard the most terrify- ing noise. Ivan let out a war whoop and one, two, three, four, no--f1v, youngsters came out of the barn. They swarmed around, all talking at once. Ivan said, 'Meet Pee Wee, Squirt, Spike, Jud, and Ike the Second.n Pee hee had a black eyeg Squirt had a bloody nose, Spike had a torn lipg Jud had the whole knee torn out of his pants, and Ike the Second had his arm in a sling. Ivan scowled and said, nSquirt, you can wash the dishes tonight and Spike, you can dry them. Jud, you can gather the eggs. Pda Wee, you do the milking, and Ike, you can sit on a chair for two hours.n I asked him about the Little Woman. He let out another war whoop that would have put Tarzan to shame. The sweetest little blonde lady canm walking out of the house. Dressed in blue and white gingham and stiff white organdy apron, she looked like a story book version of a farner's wife. I finally bade them good-bye and was on m way. I went to the Ritz-to have dinner and as I was sitting down at ny table, who should oome up to speak to me, but Knoefel Longest, accompanied by a beautiful girl. He introduced me and I invited them to git at ny table while we talked about old times at Gilboa. I asked what he was doing and he said he was a singer here at the Ritz Nightclub. I had the pleasure of hearing him and found that Knoefel was crooning his way into everybody's heart. I gave m helicopter all she had and soon we landed in hashington. Entering the building where m friend has a law office, I walked past a door partly ajar. I looked in, of course, and what do you think I saw? None other than Paul Clauss with a beautiful blonde sitting on his lap. hell, of all things, and right here in Washington, too. I saw on his desk the pictures of two very lovely looking children. Paul smiled and said, uMeet the Missus.u She was also his secretary. He said he found it more economical that way. It was getting late and I had several more stops to make. Just as I started crossing the street, some one drove right out in front of UH Bhd almost knocked me down. He parked and I went over to give him a piece of ny mind. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it was Paul Janssen.. Shortly after graduation he had come to Washington to become a taxicab driver. he had been there one day and saw a beautiful girl driving a taxicab, and right then and there he made up his mind to become one, too. I asked him if he was married. He said, uYes, I married the taxloab driver.n c5335 .vo Q3 v0 :Olga ,.f 0 0 i 1. oz.. 25' e?J59 - XXX V 0 1' , '3 555: t1f13.i6..1f2 Y fiiiizfifli .9 fQiE?q,dqagy egggypo 1 gli, Jufii r IT :fb 'b 0' ,ff ' 'W 4' H I .
