Of this group of 15 only 4 rcuained in the class to graduate this year at Gilboa. With Mrs. Brooks as our teacher we enjoyed every minute of school with its good times. We hoped it would be like that all the way through, but we found that in the second grade more work was bestowed upon us which almost took the joy out of school. The rest of the grades passed quickly with the Christmas programs and plays given at the end of the school terms. Especially do we remember Tom Sawyer given when we were in the sixth grade. ' Finally in 1940 we found ourselves in Junior High School. Eleven very timid children trying to find their way around the mammoth assembly was a sight to behold. These two years passed more quickly than ever and we soon found ourselves ngreenu freshmen. Here was the initiation to which we had looked forward for years. It was rendered to us by the graduating class of n43u and a good time was had by all. This was the year we were able to have Phy. Ed. with the bigger boys and to our amazement some of the boys made the second and some, the first team before the year was over. Our sophomore year promised to be a very successful one. With Knoefel as president and Miss Honey as our sponsor we really had a grand time. Robert was selected to help the juniors and seniors with a very important part in their class play. he ordered our class rings of which we are very proud, had parties and other recreational get togethers, and laid plans for our most important years in school, our junior and.senior years. The Junior year opened with a bang. Robert was president and hrs. May, our sponsor. We gave the play nTake It Easyu which was successful. The receipts exceeded our expectations, Our rings had arrived and much time was spent showing them off. With the money we had in our treasury and a little help financially from the seniors, we took them on a trip to Chicago. lt was on the 13th of April, the day following the death of President Roosevelt hlthough Chicago was laden with teardrops, the brave Gilboains had a grand ti e. We visited the W. L. S. Dinnerbell program, Museum of Science and Industry, and the larger stores of downtown Chicago. In the evening we attended the famous nystery, the nTen Little Indiansn at the Harris It r Theater. We arrived back in Remington early the next morning. In the spring of the year the school had numerous skating parties at Fowler which left their mark for some of the juniors. With our junior year complete we were ready to enter the last and most important year in our high school career. There were eight very adorable seniors who entered the senior class on August 28, 1945. Taking the places of the former graduates was not an easy task at first, but we soon adapted ourselves to the job and are now well satisfied with our work. We were taken on a trip to Chicago by the juniors and all the places of interest were visited in the two days we were there. During the One of our year we held several parties - which were highly enjoyed by all. memorable events was the day our pictures arrived. We had them taken the first of November and upon their arrival we all stood around and wondered where the good looking class was that we saw on the pictures. Mr. May was our sponsor and Paul Clauss, our president. The class enjoyed sponsoring a Halloween Carnival which was s great success and netted a large sum of money. In fact everything we did was greatly enjoyed. he feel that all we are and all we ever hope to be we owe to our school, our teachers, our classmates and our parents. And we wish to thank them sincerely. f 5 EEQEZ , 335283613212 jf 55525511 .fi 4'6'o'vvq'o' -:5E5S5555E5i5S5S:1'f1 Q ':'.rS1 lenafvbif c25a r N f11 ogeoegbgwy-7 i g 'geek K n, .M 5.-51. ....... . , .-.Q R K .N ' 1521255255252 X fi: 'W :Z:Z:2:2:I: 'ESESKESESEEEEQSSSSS 4' .t . .-:3:5:-
