Mrs. Ames, the homeroom teacher, guid- ed and prepared the hopeful students for that final step into high school. In the Freshman year, the class elected Kenneth Clark for its Presi- dent and sold seeds to start preparing for the Senior trip. Highlights of the Sophomore year were the sale of felt emblems and a bake sale to add to the treasury. In the Junior year, work to raise funds began in earnest. Cards, stationery, candy and magazines were sold. A Junior Prom was held with the theme Moonlight and Roses. Kenneth Clark and Ruth Mansfield were king and queen. The class rings were also received. This year the class president was Wallace Styker. Senior offices were chosen as follows: President - Kenneth Clark, Vice President - Carol Young, Secretary - Roma Lafferty, and Treas- urer - Beverly Stewart. Engaging in more money raising activities. the class sold magazines, refreshments at basketball games and P,T,A, and cards. By Christmas, having raised more than enough for the Senior trip, the fund raising activities were relinquished to the Juniors. On March 26, attaining one of their long standing goals, the four- teen members of the class started for Washington, D.C. where every- one saw many famous buildings and learned much about the United States government by observation. From Easter to Regents to Graduation is an amazingly short time. The class attained the status of alumni before it seemed possible. ROMA LAFFERTY Class of '59 MEMORIES OF THE PAST 22 I ' 1 ' .
