Class Histo The class of '56 started out their high school career with 15 members. we elected the following officers early in the year. President-Marilyn Lilley Vice President-Jimmy Teed Secretary-Carol Butenhoff Treasurer-Peggy Haggerty Student Council Elinor Musson and Joel Slaughter Mr Smith and Mrs Shaw were chosen as advisors During our Freshman year we put on a bake sale, quiz show, and a dance we also sponsored a movie and participated in the three one act plays with the comedy, 'Kidnapping Betty ' In our Sophomore year we elected the following officers President James Teed Vice President Carol Butenhoff Secretary Donna Smith Treasurer Duane Moore Student Council Peggy Haggerty and Joel Slaughter Advisors this year were Mr Souders and Mr Seaman We sponsored a dance movie and we again papticipated 1h the three one act plays This was another comedy, 'Elmer and the Lovebug In our Junior year our officers were President Joel Slaughter Vice President Peggy Haggerty Secretary Carol Butenhoff Treasurer Marilyn L1lley Student Council Hugh Canham and Joanne Faber Advisors were Mr Hay and Mrs Fitch The class worked hard this year During the year we sponsored a Junior Carnival, movie and a chicken barbecue he had 3 Squafe dance and a Junior Prom We didn't make any money on the Prom but we had fun and we hope it well start the trend in G'v1lle again put on another one act play this year 'It's Cold in Them Thar Hills We started our all important year with a nbangn The class was made up of 15 members The following officers were elected President Hugh Canham Vice President Joanne Faber Secretary Marilyn L11ley Treasurer James Teed Student Council Duane Moore and Darthy Jones This year we elected Mrs Smith and Mr Tremlett as advisors we put on our three act play, WThe Skeleton walksn early in the year We appreciate the work Mrs Carr put into the play to help us make it W success During the year we sold Christmas cards, magvz1nes, stationery and candy We had a dance and also sponsored a movie All the time we were adding money to our treasury with one pur pose in mind our Senior Trip to Washington .1 U e 15

Class Hhen returnlng home from a buslness trxp, my ctr broke down Just outsmde of the v1llage of Cl1bEFtSV1119 I gave up hope of trylng to f1x lt myself so I started trudg1ng up the ro d to the vlllage I passed a qu11nt, rose covered cottage nestled 1n valley Because my cur1os1ty got the best of me I piused for a moment and took note of the name on the ma1l box It read Vr and Hrs karren Lxlley The name rxng no bell so I started on my wav when seven youngsters came runnlng out Somehow or other they seemed to resemble an Old classmate of mlne, Peg H ggeffy I cont1nued on my way unttl I hexrd the ro r of a lf011YW00f' muffler behlnd I turned and saw Donna Smlth dr1v1ng the c1r she had talked about durlng her twelve years 1h school ls she roared by, I not1ced several tow heads s1tting 1n the back seat The next place I passed was a farm and whomd1d I see dF1V1hg new John Deere tractor but J1m Teed He stopped 1nd told me that h1s wlfe, Darthy, would hltch up the team and drlve me to town On the wxy to town Darthy told me xbout some of our other classm tes It seems that Qhtrley Porter 1S the he d operator of the G11bEFtSV1116 Tele phone Co lfter returnlng from the X A C 's w1th the ratlng of Colonel I was qulte surpr1sed to hear that Hugh Canham has dlscovered the formul for work w1thout energy Darthy dropped me off at the Faber and Smlth g rage Here I ran 1nto Toanne and her husbxnd, Jerry, who are do1ng qu1te well ln C rrylng on the f m1ly bus1ness lt the garage, I saw a palr of feet proJect1ng from under neath a yellow Jagu r hhen the person emerged, I recogntzed the grelse smeared face of Puane Voore S1nce they could not f1x my c1r for a couple of hours, I dec1ded to k11l t1me by go1ng to the mov1es I met Ellnor Husson at the door, sell1ng t1Ck9tS I learned that she was home on vacat1on from teachlng at Yale Un1vers1ty struggled 1nto the packed aud1tor1um and could not f1nd a seat except 1n the front row I looked bes1de me and saw Peverly Bed1ent Staflng lnfenfly at one speclal usher turned my gaze upon the screen and much to my surprlse I became xware that the lead1ng lady was none other than Marllyn Lllley I heard a commotlon 1h the row 1n back of me ind turned about to see Jayne Cnflstlan dfgnlng w1th a guy 1n an A1r Force un1form Rho separated 1t but the calm and peace lovlng L1ll1e Wlller Llttlewood who 15 l1v1ng a qulet marr1ed 11fe w1th Dw1ght at WOFF1S After the movle, Leona hlld offered me a rlde 1n her black Plymouth got on the wrong road and ended up at the farm of Vusson and Butenhoff se went 1ns1de to ask d1PeCt10nS and found Carol and Ray 1n the 11v1ng room rocklng the cradle of the1r tw1ns, Thunder and L1ghtn1ng I called the garage and learned that my car had been f1xed and they would :g1ng lt to me I b1d Ad10S to the last of my classmates and started on my Y ,-6971 16 I C .
