And they're off and running to the spec- tacular sight of the parade which attracts Gilbert residents by the ton. ll his special yearly - - event, the weekend before Thanksgiving, originated in 1960 as an Old West Celebration held in December. A few years before, Gilbert held a spring Fiesta, and Gilbert Days as we know it today, with it's food booths, rides, 2-rg gs. , . . 1' parade and souvenirs is the combination of the Spring Fiesta and winter Gilbert Wild West Days. The parade began early on Saturday morning and included our State Cham- pion Band, floats, Mayor L.J. Reed, Arizona Senator John McCain, and Mayors from other towns. The floats, horses, antique cars and the Firefighter water competitions were all a spectacle to enjoy and re- member. 'V ' 'f gem: -if Jumffi Steve Flores,'Scott Mertz, David Bass and Alex Ruvalcaba were, amused, but John Phillips and Morgan Fanchini weren't too thrilled about the baby buffalo, on campus at lunch for Gilbert Days.
