There was a sign which read: Gordon the Great, Home and hear him. I entered and found the place Very beautifully decorated. A :an cave into the room. He was dressed like a Hindu! ist his face was so faxiliar that I was startled. It was Jack Eddy. hc told no that he had opened a home for stray dogs, but as there was not an? profit in it, he turned to crfstal gazing for a living. he sat down and he explained that this particular sphere showed pictures of people and events all over the world. Just as he said this I saw in the sphcrc a picture of the city dump of Gilbert. Thcrv was a man bending over an inert being lying on the ground. It was Darrell Slade, who has a life-long job slugging rats at Gilbcrt's city dump. . Hut who was it walking down the corridor ' of the 'atc Sanitorium? Why, it was Anna Lee Embl . She was snow head cosmotologist for the poor inmates there. Anna Wallace was head nurse and physican at the Last Chance Hospital, .located next to the Sanitorium. I saw a girl. It was Juanita Clare who was still waiting for Robert to pop the question. Helen Bahm had had htttcr luck. She vas engaged to a wealthy old gentleman in'Egypt, The crystal showed JQC Bremer working in an office. He was president of the TVA Air Lines. Ruth Gicszl's life-long ambition had been fulfilled. She was private secretary to the president of the United Stctes. Alfred Sotomayer was the hard-working routf foreman of thc Rainbo Bread Company with MOPCQgf' Tiller to bark out different routes. In his w'vs time Med was the official barker for the sir, shows, in thc world famous Gilbert Circus. I sav Q thriving fxrm. Its proud owner was Alvin Lsmoreaux. His oonfindote And advisor, George jiller, was th: hspjy and prosperous owner of Tovroafs Packing Plant, Next I saw Ruth Dong. Because of her experience in handling chewing gum, she was jresident of tht Stieko Chewing Gum Company in Catalina. June Neely was a well-known welfare workcr in the slums of Chicago while Tarvin Torrison had joined the H. P. A. Orchestra as a featured violinist. After the glance at Uarvin in the U. F. A. Crehostra I was astonished to see Therold there also, only he was mowing lawns at the GovQrnor's mansion. Nic? eh! I don't know whether the sphere was telling the truth or not but if my eyes didn't deceive me Cllie Eolsduout, Cyou rezzenb-xr herj vms manager of the Ya? Companf Store in Higle7. I hope I nm right, because I always had hopes for Ollie. The sphere was btginning to fade hut I could still see Rory VeGinnis in her beauty parlor and if I am not mistaken she was doing Eleanor Roosevelt's hair. Mfff, A ' . Although the season was not so successful from the standpoint of games won, it was more than successful on the basis of good sportsmanship and fair play. . One outstanding fact was that many of Gilbert's gmnes were lost by only 2 or 5 points. This showed that, although they were not quite up to par with most of the teams they played, they still had a fighting spirit and a determination to ple? as good a game as possible. Haydon.boat them 59 to-52 in a first round game and Superior won a 26 to 25 victory in an overtime period in the consolation round. This year the annual second team tournament was again held at Gilbert. The Tiger Kittens ended up in fourth place. They won their first game from Florence 25 to 14. In the semi-finals the? were beaten 27 to 14 by a junior Tolleson five. This put them in the consolation bracket of the finals where they were again defeated by the Coolidge seconds, 51 to 22. Through experience gained this year by tho first team and a wealth of new players from the second team there is promise of a better team for next year. ..- ,J 4 ZVVXVAY i l I 51 f K --E I JU ' l '2': ,' I 4 ' ' . 1 , . x ,V W. 5, ' I I n . :Z 'T' A Q 'A'-ATR li' rf! Working with these representatives were Marvin Morrison, student body president, Reggie Boebe, vice- president and June Neely, secretary-treasurer. Meetings are held every two weeks and special meetings are called when necessary. One important meeting concerned the carnival. Games were decided and the ruling made concerning how the queen would be selected. The student council also started the movement of having a patio grassed and trees planted so the students could spend their noon hour usefully' and comfortably. Field day arrangements were made and carried out by the student council. .1, ki.-., -.. 69 1 f 7763 ER JX FFS Ruth Gieszl ......
