Class Histor As we Seniors of 1955 look into our futi.u'e, we see many happy days ahead of us, and as we look into our past, we have wonderful memories. How well we remember the fall of 1949 when we first walked into G.H. S. We were told to assemble in the auditorium and there we were di- vided into two sections. Miss Martha Williams wu sponsor of the Asection and Mr. William Preston was sponsors of B section. 'I'his was also the first year at G.H. S. for both our sponsors, so, soon we were feeling more at home. We were then told to fill out a schedule. Gee whiz, what's that? we asked. Well, we finally learned the ropes the hard way and we began to really love Old G.H. S. Then, too, we began to distinguish ourselves in G.H. S. by electing Patricia Hope as the Halloween Carnival Princess this year. The following fall, we were very happy to have reached the eighth grade, where we spent another wonderful year in G.H.S. Nothing very notable happened but we felt more at home and learned our way around. The next fallwhen we went into G.H. S., we were much braver and happier because this year we were in our last year of junior High School. Dimple Ellis and Pat Hope were cheerleaders. We were slowly, but surely, making ourselves a place in Gilbert High School. The next summer passed quickly andbefore long we were in Senior High School. The Sopho- more Kid Day is a day that we shall never forget. The girls with their pigtails and dolls, the boys with t.heir guns and cowboy outfits, the picnic, played a part in giving us a wonderful day. Victoria Browning was selected as the girl that looked more like a six year old that day and jim White won the boy's price. Patricia Hope and Dorsel Smith were elected as Halloween Carnival King and Queen this year. We were all more than ever proud to be a member of our class. The next year was our slave-year . With both sections combined, we worked day after day at selling candy, Christmas cards, stationary, and everything that would make us an extra penny. We had a wonderful banquet for the Seniors this year. ln Old Mexico , the theme of the ban- quet, the gay Seniors and Senoritas, the guitars, the very attractive trellis across one endofthe gym, and the music by the Concord Commanders all enabled us to have a wonderful and memor- able evening. Another event in oin' junior year that we shall never forget is our junior play. The play was a three-act mystery comedy and was enjoyed by everyone. The cast included: Charles Taylor, Dimple Ellis, Maxie Hilbert, Roxie Lester, JackBartram, I-lelenHatfield, Genevieve Trent, Dewey Matney, and jerry Lester. This was to date, our grandest year. Now we are Seniors and we are very proud that we are members of such a wonderful class. Mr. William Preston and Mr. Wilford Cline are our sponsors. Our class officers are: Genevieve Trent, President, junior Browning, Vice-President, Josephine Cline, Secretary, Charlie jarrell, Treasurer, and Helen Hatfield, Norma Dotson., jack Bartram, and Shelba Hatfield are our Student Council representatives. Our Senior Play A-Feudin' Over Yonder , is one that we shall long remember. The play revolved around a feud between two hillbilly families in the Ozark Mountains. The cast included: Lucille Cline, joan Hatfield, Maxie Hilbert, Hellen Hatfield, Jack Bartram, Junior Browning, Genevieve Trent, Dimple Ellis, Jerry Lester, Charlie Jarrell, Charles Taylor, Carlyle Hatfield, Loretta Lester, Betty Surber, and Shelba Hatfield. We seniors are now looking forward to our senior trip, our junior-Senior Banquet, the day when we shall graduate and many other things that happen only once in a lifetime. Yes, it is fine to look back into our past at our many experiences, but it is wonderful to look into our future at the many glorious things that lie ahead of us. P 415 MR ' I I , , is lrll.
