It's so hard to believe that Gilbert has a football team and everything. Oh dear, I almost forgot. It wouldn't do for me to forget my reservations. I'll just hop into my car and be there in no time. Oh! oh! I'm almost out of gas. Hmmm. There's a filling sta- tion up ahead. I do hope they're not closed. Oh, what a handsome attendant! Well, if it isn't Kenneth Daniels. You've built up quite a business here, Ken. I-Nhat? You say you're in partnership with Billy jack Grubb? Wonderful! Say hello to Billy for me. So long! I'm feeling quite hungry. Ithink I'll just stop in here for a bite to eat. Wow! What cute waitresses! They look awfully familiar, though. Who? Josephine Cline and Mildred Mullins? The years certainly haven't changed you two. Goodbye, I'll stop in and see you very soon. Golly, these new super highways re ally cut your driving time in half. I guess we have eng- ineer jerry Lester to thank for that. You're the Professor of Chemistry, Physics, and Aeronautics here? Well, good for you. I always knew you'd get some good out of Mr. Phipps' classes. I'll see you at the game. Goodness, someone is certainly straining his vocal chords on the Alma Mater! Oh, no! It's Danny Cline, with Delmas Browning, jimmy Scarberry, and Lewis Tramel adding their two cents' worth to make it a barbershop quartet! Gee, nearly everyone in our class of '55 is here for the big game. Oh, that poor fellow! just look at all the girls clustering around him just to get his autograph. Stand back, girls! Give him air! Wow! It's Charles Taylor, who just finished making his latest movie, Sands of the Sahara , and there's his agent, Carlyle Hatfield. What a pair! Hey, girls, wait for me! Golly, what a crowd! Hi, Genevieve Trent. You say you're from the New York Times and you're here to cover the story of the big game with sports editor, jimior Browning? Lots of luck! Goodbye, everyone! Oh, my goodness! l've misplaced my purse. I'm sure Ihad it a minute ago. Ica.n't find it anywhere, though. Help! Police! Missing pocketbook! Wow! Oh, hello, officer. Hey! Gail Haney! How long have you been a cop? Well, here are the facts. Ilost my purse somewhere! Oh, do help me find lt! Wal, fry mah hide effen it ain't Ed Moore and James Shull . They done bought awhole flock of ranches out in Texas, and they were drivin' their cattle to the market when they decided to stop and see the game. Hey, boys! You'd better move those steers out of the road. They're blocking traffic! I think I'll drive around town. There are so many new buildings, Isometimes wonder how they ever found a place to put them. Look at that sign! Art.hur Murray Dance Studios. Iwonder who the teachers are. I'll go in and inquire. Who? Betty Surber, Lucille Cline, and Lois Coleman! No wonder so many people are standing in line in front of the studio. Ooh! What darling dresses! I must go in there and see their exquisite clothes. Don't tell me! Pat- riciaHope, Dimple Ellis, and joan Hatfield are models in that beautiful dress shop. They've all three been a big success from coast to coast. Now I'm coming to the residential section of town. Goodness! What lovely houses. My! But every- one here seems to be doing fine. Richard Ferrell, the great orator, lives there and Onedia Matney lives right next door to him. That must be Virginia Neace with all those cute children. Oh, what a darling mansion. Really? Maxie Hilbert lives there and in between watching her husband play ball, Maxie has written three published novels. Ialways knew she was smart for some reason. And there's Norma Jean Dot- son, Vicky Browning, and Loretta Lester coming out of that cute white house. Those guys must have re- turned from Korea. Gracious, it's almost time for the game to start. Wow! I'm breathless. Ihope I'm not too late. Oh, there's the famouslawyer, Daniel Hatfield, giving the star players their awards. jim White, afamous sports announcer, is up there in the broadcasting booth. It's almost time for the game, but first the Mayor of Gilbert will give his speech, and there's his secretary, Shelba Hatfield, faithfully taking notes. Well, here come the players. Come on, Gilbert! Win this game just for the dear old class of '55, Yea, Rah! Touchdown! Mercy! Here it is the second half already. Oh, oh! Some player on the field is injured. There goes a doctor to examine him. Golly! It's Jack Bartram and the sight of blood doesn't seem to phase him a bit. Hurray! We won the game! Oh, I'm so happy! Now our whole class will go to a reunion party tonight, where we'll all be busy discussing everything t.hat's happened in the last ten years.
