After the usual chatterbox session which pre- ceded the opening of the school year, the freshmen of 1952 and 1953 took their first steps into the Senior High School and were instantly transformed into the sophomore class of 1955 and 1954. To the auditorium they then went to hear the ring-out-the-old, ring-in-the-new oration of Mr. Kaczrowski. Soon they began to delve into the red tape of the opening days. Class schedules were organ- ized, homeroom teachers appointed, and books given to the eager, hardworking students of the sophomore class. The 10-A students found their home-room teacher to be Miss Feyereiseng the 10-B class found theirs to be Mr. Anderson. The newly formed class then set about to electing class officers and Student Council members. The lucky students chosen to govern the class were: Betty Mohar, president, Ellen Keller, vice presidentg Marlene Sny- der, secretaryg and Joe Russ, treasurer. Nominated and elected to the Student Council were Betty Sissila, Ellen Keller, Roberta Ahlin, joe Russ, and Richard jarvinen. To increase the volume of their already bursting coffers, the sophomores set about to the task of selling pins during the football season. They also had a cork gun gallery in the junior's carnival, which popped up by a few dollars the total amount of money in their Little Fort Knox . Activities have been given a beating by the tenth graders. Musically inclined students get a chance to shoot their toots in the band, orchestra and in the vocal groups. The girls have been active in the annual queen contests, while the boys let off steam in the junior Rifle Club and on the basketball court. Thus far, the trainees of the drivers class have passed their road exams, and received their licenses. This means safer drivers, and an increase in the sales of Model T's and Model A's . Mr. Anderson and Miss Feyereisen want the soph- omore class to be nothing but tops, and with their able advising, the new-comers to the senior high have accomplished a lot. Seniors were made for great things, juniors were made for small. But no one has yet figured out Why sophomores were made at all.
