At Hrst we were a noisy bunch. Echoes filled the corridors as we passed to classes. However, soon the novelty of being senior high stu- dents wore off and we resolved ourselves into a year of studious application. We sponsored a Thanksgiv- ing dance this year and undertook the selling of pom- pons and booster pins for the tournaments as two ad- ditional means of building up our treasury. In our junior year, things really started to get in swing. Darlene Kosteliz and Joyce Carroll took their places as the B team cheerleaders and Helen Sereno and Annette Stupca became cheerleaders for the A team. Although our junior class play, Miss jimmy , proved to be a lot of work we enjoyed presenting it and it was favorably received by the audience. Our treasury soon began to swell from the proceeds of our basketball homecoming which was a great success. Delores Fugina was queen and Lois Gaeloski and Dar- lene jofs reigned as princesses of the court. The duchesses honored from our class were Annette Stup- ca, Helen Sereno, and Donna Lakso. March 15, 1953 proved to be a memorable day for us. For this was the day we proudly received our long awaited graduation rings. Joyce Carroll held the honor for the smallest ring with a size 4, and james Sandstrom for the largest with a size 11. W'ith NMARDI C1RAS as our theme the junior, Senior Prom was the event which climaxed our junior year. The community center was colorfully decorated with the Mardi Gras spirit of ballons, streamers, and a colored moon. The punch was served from the mouths of two jolly clowns, skillfully constructed and painted by Ellen Aro and Lois Gaeloski. A wishing well occupied the center of the dance floor and a archway decorated with flowers and streamers graced the main entrance to our MARDI GRASH. Now our last year and thirty seniors plus one, Nancy Bordeaux a girl from Detroit Michigan, enter- ed the halls of G.H.S. with the zest so typical of our group. Class elections opened the year officially with Sylvester Eumia as our president, james Veronick the vice president, Peggy Mulden the treasurer, janet Erickson, secretary. Our football homecoming this year was a great success with a pep meeting, game, bonfire, caravan, and the coronation dance. Her Royal Highness, Ann- ette Stupca, was attended at court by princesses, Carole Stupca and Barbara Kukar, the duchesses were Donna Lakso and Helen Sereno. Class meetings were soon being held to decide upon the many details for our graduation. Our class motto We have crossed the bay, the ocean lies before us, and picking our class flower, the red rose was decided upon. XX7e chose silver and rose to be our class colors. The culmination of our twelve years of study came with the baccalaureate and commencement exer- cises. ln conclusion we express gratitude to our par- ents, teachers, and all those who have helped and en- couraged us during the past twelve years.
