BOARD OF ED C TIO Donald French Harry Sharp Drck Owens Farl Jones Presrdent L B Hoy Superintendent R T Stokes W H Lunbeck Missouri law provides that school districts in which there is a city of the fourth class shall be governed by a board of six di rectors Two members are electe every year for aterm of three the board to plan for future needs The board and superintendent work out the general policies of the school Details involved in administration are left to the prin cipals It is the policy of the board and faculty members to promote such measures as will make better citizens of the students The community is obligated to provide educational opportunity to the students On the other hand the students are obligated to take advantage of the opportunities offered Members of the board serve without monetary reward Their only compensation lies in the fact that they are rendering a worth while servrce to the community years. .This provision lends continuity and stability, and enables

He ha formerly seriyed as principal of the Nevada Hi School, and as principal os the Independence High School, before going to Merriam, Kansas as princigal of the Shawnee- Mission High Sc ool. Most gf his raduate work was done in t e ?ield of secondary education. Since Mr. Gum assumed his duties as principal of the Gideon High School, a number of new courses have been added to the course of study. The activity program has been reorganized so that the home room is an integral part of the school's administration.
