He had formerly served as rin- cipalof the Nevada High School, and as principal of the Indepen- dence High School, before go- ing to Merriam, Kansas as pun- xcgmal of the Shawnee-Mission gh School. Most of his grad- uate work was done in the field of secondary education. Since Mr. Gum assumed his duties as principal of the Gideon High School, a number of new courses have been added to the course of study. The activity program has been reorganized so that the home room is an integral part of the school's administration. Mr. Gum is a member of Phi Delta Kappa and a past presi- dent of e Missouri Secondary School Principals Association.
