mmawonn It is the hope of the entire staff of this, the first edition of THE HERD, that it will permanently record the wonderful memories and events of this past school year . . . It is the purpose of any yearbook to record the deeds and events of the students and teachers, who during the years embody the spirit of the schools of America. YOU, the students, faculty, and friends of Giddings High School, have made this edition a pleasure for us to record, because of the many achievements in the various activities, whether scholastic, literary, social, or athletic achievements . . . In the years to come, this yearbook will keep alive the memories gathered during the past year. The future years should and will bring new faces and changes to the scene of the Giddings Schools, but there shall be for us, the record of the friends we knew, the things we did and the mem- ories that are so dear to us . . . We wish to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the fine citizens who make up our school board, our superintendent, Mr. Don B. Slocombg Mr. Everett Schmidt and Mr. Henry Lawrence, our principals, and last but not least, YOU, the students and faculty of the Giddings Elementary and High Schools for making this yearbook the success that it is.
