Your life, my fellowmen, is an island separated from all other islands and regions. No matter how many are the ships that leave your shores for other climes. Kahlil Gibran ... if you only knew that the Poverty which causes you so much wretchedness is the very thing that reveals the knowledge of Justice and the understanding of Life, you would be contented with your lot. | say knowledge of Justice: for the rich man is too busy amassing wealth to seek this knowledge. And | say understanding of Life: for the strong man is too eager in his pursuit of power and glory to keep to the straight path of truth. Rejoice then, ..., for you are the mouth of Justice and the book of Life. Be content, for you are the source of virtue in those who rule over you and the pillar of integrity of those who guide you. And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. —Kahlil Gibran Talent is developed in retirement: character is formed in the rush of the world. —Goethe 10 Necessity is the mother of invention —Latin Proverb ES Man is but a reed, the weakest in nature, but he is a thinking reed. —Pascal 2 [Ey a aa agra aun Wi w OO = fav) Je U O ss Sg Cie oD Csia,8| oO © le O se) ©) e © 2 Y) ate) = Th One by one the sands are flowing, One by one the moments fall; Some are coming, some are going; Do not strive to grasp them all. One by one thy duties wait thee, Let thy whole strength go to each, Let no future dreams elate thee, Learn thou first what these can teach. One by one (bright gifts from Heaven) Joys are sent thee here below; Take them readily when given, Ready too to let them go. One by one thy griefs shall meet thee, Do not fear an armed band; One will fade as others greet thee; Shadows passing through the land. Ce Do not linger with regretting, Or for passing hours despond; Nor, the daily toil forgetting, Look too eagerly beyond. Hours are golden links, God’s token, Reaching Heaven; but one by one Take them, lest the chain be broken Ere the pilgrimage be done. — Adelaide A. Procter 14 The 1973 annual dedication is in honor of a person who is sincerely concerned with the individuality of éach student. She is of a rare group of people whom we have been fortunate to have with us. In the midst of frustrated students, hysterical teachers, over-worked administrators, and irate parents, she calmly and efficiently performs impossible tasks, never complaining but always there to lend a helping hand with a cheerful smile. She has not only watched our school grow and develop, but has shared in its heartbreaks and triumphs. Because of this unique and warm human being who is so much a part of our school, it seems most appropriate that our last yearbook should be dedicated to our own...
