or the First Time! After several weeks of hard practice, the Senior Band traveled to the Dis- trict Band and Chorus contest at Clyde, Ohio on March 27. Here they made a first for Gibsonburg High School by getting a I rating. It was the first time in the history of the school that the band ever qualified for State Contest. At 6:45 a. m. on April 25, the happy and excited band returned to Clyde to compete in the State Contest where they received a rating of III or Good. We are very proud of our band and we hope that this first certainly won't be their 1ast! Another first was made for Gib- sonburg when on February 20, Lind Magrum came in 3rd in Oratorical Declamation at District B Speech Contest at Port Clinton, Ohio. Thin qualified Linda for State Contest. On March 19, Linda and her Speech instructor, Mrs. Lang, wen to Ohio State University to partici- pate in the Contest. Although she didn't make the Semi-finals, Lind: Q QQNNQ 3 Q 3 5 2 3 2 i did place in the top half. , r...,.
