FAMILY OBODY WA V? 'T' ' 7 T ' The Doss' family poses for an interesting portrait. - TJ I Ted, whose ancestry is Spanish and Filipino, is hurt because someone called him a spik . Alex and Rita are shocked. 23 TED THE FAMILY NOBODY WANTED is the description of an actual family trying to live and be accepted in society and running into more problems than the usual American fam- ily would have. Even though a lot of the play is fictional - a part is actually true. It is always a little difficult for a fellow to present his best girl to his family, but Don's problem is unique. He is wild about an extremely attractive girl who is just a trifle on the stuffy side. The gir1's parents are charming and wealthy, but they are definite- ly on the stuffy side. It is time for the girl to meet the family, and here's the problem: Don has a lot of brothers and sisters - some are part Japanese, Balinese, Mexican, and full-blooded American Indian! Don's parents, Rev. and Mrs. Doss, had adopted these various children when they found that they couldn't have any of their own. They grew up together, all a part of one family. And now Don, the oldest, is asked to deny these brothers and sisters for the sake of the one girl that matters to him. The stirring res- olution provides for an enchanting and humor- ous comedy with an undercurrent that says something important. Members of Mr. Reed's industrial arts class work on a stage door.
