.,,.A... . Y--f'-W -Y 1- -e- JMM. .,.. V, Mmm DEDICATION In 1876 the first permanent school building was erected in Gibsonburg with an enrollment of 150 pupils under three teachers. At that time T. D. Stevenson, then principal and leader in Gibsonburg education, arranged a regular course of study. In the early 1890's a new building with more adequate facilities was needed. In 1894 it was erected. The architect was W. Lewis Kramerg the contractor, P. P. Woolcottg the superintendent, Frank McGill. The Board of Education included N. B. Peter Bowser, A. P. Johnson, Jacob Beard, P. H. Zorn, and Charles Sander. This building is now the present grade school. Its rooms no longer roomy and half-filled but crowded with many eager Gibsonburg children. No longer up-to-date, it has been torn by fire, its grounds have been trampled by thousands of feet, its floors are worn and pitted, its desks are carved and scratched, and its exterior is sooty and weather-beaten. It is no longer the proud building of 1894. It is a beaten warrior of many storms. It is to this building, soon to be replaced by a shinging new, one that we, the annual staff of 1954, dedicate our yearbook in remembrance of our grade school years. 2
