BANQUET OF 1948 As Juniors, we gave a banquet for the Senior class on the night of April 26, 1947. The banuqet was held in the high school assembly. The theme of the banquet was nCand1e Reun1on.W The decorating was done in pastel colors. The ceiling and along the walls was covered with solidly with paper. In each corner stood large imitation candles. The tables were placed in a horse-shoe shape, covered with white linen table cloths. On each table were candles that were lighted at the begin- ing of the dinner. On the end table were three white vases, each holding one dozen yellow rose buds, and the memory books were printed in the Sen1or's colors, gold and brown. The dinner was served by the mothers of the Jr. Class The menu consisted of: fruit cocktail, candle salads swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, in patty shell ice cream and strawberries, and angel food cake. After the very delicious dinner was served, Glenn Mc- Kaln acted as toastmaster and speeches were given by: Ed- win Allison, Harlan Vail, Miss Watson, and Mr. Pyle. After this Rev. Muir gave a violin solo, Edwin Allison a piano solo, and Mrs. Muir gave a vocal solo. This group was then taken to the gymn where the rest of the evening was spent dancing. The banquet was considered a great success, being sp- onsored by Miss Viola Watson. JUNIOR PLAY of 1947 The Junior Class of Gibson presented UA READY MADE FAMILY,W a three act farce, on the evenings of Oct. 51st and Nov. 1, 1947, as their class play. The cast follows ----- AGNES MARTIN, a widow, DONNA JANE McDOWELL BOB, her son, EDWIN ALLISON MARILEE, her eldest daughter, DONNA MOLYNEUX GRACIE, her youngest daughter, MARY SLAVFN MISS LYDIA, her sister-in-law, PEARL STEINKE HENRY TURNER, a widower, GLENN McKAIN DORIS, his daughter, SHIRLEE COOPER SAMMIE, his son, MERRILL SHEPHERD BEGONIA, the Martyn's colored cook, GERALDINE FOX NICODEMUS, the Martyn's colored man, ROBERT VAIL The play went over very successful and was presented in the high school assembly. Miss Viola Watson was our director and sponsor. JUNIOR PLAY Of 1948 The Juniors of 48' presented as their class play WThe Black Derby.' It was presented under the direction of Miss Watson and Miss Longwell. It was a mystery and was presented on Nov. 4 and 5. 99
