Page 2 N. N ,, I S K1 P We dedicate this annual to Mr. James C. Langemak who retired as principal of Gibraltar High School at the close of the 1951 school term. Mr. Langemak will long be remembered for his sincere interest in the problems of each student. In this manner we wish to express our appreciation for the guidance and help which he so willingly gave. The Senior Class of 1952 ,-.-s- +V 'xx' Xxx v Y MZ ' X f,l:--,,-., -3 WHS S32 Qwszixen as-1 f L? ,..-- 5 ' 22' QF P ' 4 jADMlfvf57fQAT10A! About fifty of our students are leaving Gibraltar Big: School having completed ' their four year course. At such a time, one is moved to regret the parting because it is evident that thereafter those who were intimately associated in daily activity can meet onJ.y on rare occasions. There is a pathos in this thought that makes all of us linger to press each other's hand. At the same time it was known to all, that it must come about, that we must part. We have a mission to perform in life, a destiny to live. It is a lsu of life. Every mother regrets the passing of the childhood days of her 4 baby, yet not one would really vant her little one to remain a child indefinitely, In this same way, we, who have gown to mature stature both physically and mentally having discovered the change in ourselves, realize that we must move on to newildh of work. What this work will be will depend on our ability. How high each one of us will climb depends not along on accidental opportunity. In many cases, it will de- pend on the resource.t'ulness of our imagination and above all, our willingness to work hard, to make sacrifices in order to prepare ourselves more adequately for our place in productive enterprise. Whatever may become our position, great or obscure, we will have the cp- portunity to do our best. If we will apply ourselves diligently, we will, each one of us, share in the benefits that our richly endowed country has al.- ' J wqa given to every industrious youth. Depressions and vars have come, depres- sions and vars have gone, new crises appear, but America has always found a Qi place for anybody who had the perserverance to keep on trying. Aa the curtain closes on the drama of the hiya school dqs of the senior class, we join with the Board of Fducation, and the faculty in extending to them our congmtulations and best wishes for real success, Ay . any Z. Let's look into our supersonic atomic crystal and see if there are any changes. Oh, what a change! The first scene we see is the village of Sister Bay. There's Bun 's new drug store and we see Lois Lundquist working behind the counter. Their regular employ G dman, has the day off. It is an accident involving two of our former cl mates, Doris Uhl and June Anderson. One of Parent's trucks driven by Doris and a Masterfreeze 11' driven by June w e completely demolished. Reinhard, J. Kalms, J. Reinhard, B, Franke, C, Mozal, K. Zak The Future Homemakers of America was organized in the fall with forty two members. Girls who have had one year of Home Economics or are presently enrolled in Home Economics may become members of the FHA. The purpose of the FHA is to b oaden the scope of Home Economics training and working together as a group to make better Future Homemakers. This year the girls have been very busv during the entire year. In October a square dance was held with the FFA. November saw us planning and preparing a ham dinner for the public. The dinner was served to 225 people in the gymnasium. The tables were decorated with white cloth and turkey centerpieces. Also in November, Miss Buss took the officers to a leaders training meeting held in New Holstein. In December a style show was held, to which the mothers of the girls modeling and the wives of the faculty were invited. After the style revue, coffee, cookies and tea sandwiches from a candle lighted table. Also in December FFA and FHA held a joint Christmas party in the gymnasium. In January five girls were busy in the Home Economics room baking cherry pies. They were Sharon Wagner, Beatrice Duquaine, Nancy Stoll, Beverly Lind, and Evelyn Knudson. The pies were judged and Evelyn was chosen to represent our school in the cherry pie baking contest at Sturgeon Bay where she placed third. February usually brings demonstration work for the FHAgirls. This year the two girls chosen to represent us were Marilee Jensen and Sharon Wagner. The The district contest was held at Brussels on February 25th. Marilee placed second in the contest at Brussels. She was the only FHAcontestant who placed in the contest from Door County. In March the Forensic Contest will be held at the high school and the girls will serve a lunch to the group. Another new activity carried on this year is the radio programs in which the girls participated. Some future activities planned are attendance at the State FHA convention June 3-S at Green Lake, FHA Spring Style Revue, trip to some point of interest and a Mother-Daughter banquet at the end of the school year. The girls have sold pin cushions, chocolate milk, and Spanish hamburgers to earn money for their organization. ckson Page 33 4. 4. A this 'J '51 fl First Row: R. Resler, D. Raymond, D.
