Know that in your heart It must be paid with a sigh, But the joy you feel YOU feel And no one can take away And like a bell you'll ring and peal Free for many a day So keep that fine edge so sharp like a razor newly honed And sing with fury and harp In the spirit to you loaned, Clement Grilliot School - a place of instruction - to learn the arts of life, It is here that we get a glimpse of the world as seen through books and other people, We endeavor to prepare for the time when we will have to position ourselves in society. Hopefully our school days have prepared us to go places and do constructive things and become someone in the thriving world, .mu -wwwlv -1 MW-N-H Many times a younger person is in- fluenced by the actions of an upper classman. Likewise we are all models for each other, because by what we say or do, can and does influence other people. Maybe if we would remember this we would be more considerate of each other. is 7 Q 3 L :t . fr K K ,I .,.,,..waM'W ffiigx- H ,x Biff? 4 I A 32153, wfwlfiw Q' WB' 1, ,f As the time flashes by, we very seldom are able to see the many things that surround us. Preparation began last fall with ordering diplomas, caps and gowns and announcements, and ended in May with the receipt and use of these thing. All too soon it was Friday, May 21. Seniors turned in books and cleaned out lockers. Baccalau- reate and Commencement practice took hours. On May 30, at 2500 p. m. , the processional music played by Melanie Koontz and Kathy Ritz began. Graduates, parents, and friends listened atten- tively to the Reverend Fred Bernhard, give words of wisdom. Special music was by the Senior clar inet quartet, Jeannine Kochersperger, Janice Harpest, Marilyn Martin, and Sandra Smith. At 8:00 p. m. , the same evening, seniors began their final walk as students of Gettysburg High. Tom Menke and Carlton Jones gave the valedictory and salutatory. A. Blair Helman spoke on The Beckoning Frontier. After the presentation of diplomas, benediction, the graduated seniors marched out to begin 40 new roads. CLASS COLORS Scarlet and Silver CLASS FLOWER White Rose CLASS MOTTO If you can't do great things in a small way, do small things in a great way! X , RM ,v.,. sfA ACTIVITIES Qhfanger in the Night Presented by the Gettysburg Seniors Just off the lobby of the Boulevard Hotel there is a gift shop. This gift shop is very capably owned and operated by a couple of attractive young ladies, Sylvia Lee and Mable Crane, who seem very good natured, fun loving, and not at all deserving of the events that fall upon their shapely shoulders because someone is plotting murder, and this little gift shop is the very center of the murder plot. LEFT TO RIGHT: M. Shives, R. Crist: Student Director, D. Mullins, B. Hershberger. M. Baber, S. Petho, C. Jones, I. I-larpest, R. Bowman S. smith, J. Kochersperger, M. Martin, R. Brickler, L. Hill, Mrs. Skewesg director. Lock. Qlook. and Lipslick Presented by the Junior Class Gordon Warren, the student-counselor at Pembroke High is meticulous and must have everything in its place, When attractive Jane Gardner, the new counselor breezes in, he takes an immediate dislike to her. Mrs. Maggs has been an uproarious start with Miss Prather and her long list of complaints Miss Prather IS the math teacher Mr Plun kett, the janitor, insists on being called his proper title: hired as the new cleaning lady. The new term gets off to n Supervising Sanitary Engineer. The play moves along whe money is lost, found, and Mr. Warren a Miss Gardner finally find a mutual attraction. stock, R, Lear, S, Keller, R, Smith, P, Hawesg STANDING: J. The teams over the county were evenly matched this year so our 8-11 record is a little misleading. As scores show on the previous page we lost a few games by a very close margin. During regular season play we averaged over '72 points per game, with Tom McMi1ler leading in total points. Tom Bernhard's percentage of foul shooting was best, Steve Sponaugle led in rebounds, Carlton I ones was the outstanding defensive player, and Scott Laughman made the most assists, As Mr. Ballard said, The seniors finished four years of hard work with an excellent home court advantage by winning six home games this year while only losing two at home, A great way to end a high school bas- ketball season, 4' bf Nw SS V i,if W Vxi?, ,.
