Senior Class PYUPIWCY Hi! I'm Willard Keeler, your narrator for this tale. I am about to re- late to you a little incident that happened way back in the summer of 1962. You see, I own the Keeler Trucking Company, Incorporated--coast to coast trucking. This day I happened to be traveling on U. S. Route 56 in the Eastern part of Ohio when I came into a great metropolis named Gettysburg. It finally dawned on me that this was the town and the school from which I graduated ten long years ago. I wondered what happened to all of those zany kids that were in that '52 graduating class. It was getting near evening so I decided to find a place to park the truck and a place for me. I then noticed an enormous service station on the corner. The name of it was the Miller Brothers' Ultra-Modern Service Station and Fix-it Shop. Upon further investigation I found it was owned and op- erated by Adrian and Alvin Miller. Alvin managed the filling station and Adrian, the fix-it shop. Alvin took care of my truck for me. As I was leaving a man in a sleak, black, '62 Cadillac pulled up to get refueled. I looked under the little goatee he was wearing and sure enough it was Cecil Pugh. Cecil told me he was now Professor Pugh, Director of Atomic Technology at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Cecil then continued on his way and I went to find a hotel to receive some accomodation. I found the hotel right next door to the newly erected newspaper building. I entered the hotel, walked up to the desk, and who should con- front me but another old classmate, Jack Alspaugh. Jack, it seems, is the eastern manager of a chain of nation wide hotels owned by Betty Dickey and her husband. Jack was watching the desk until the night clerk came on duty. Did I say 'he'? My mistake, because just then she came rushing in and she just happened to be Dorothy Garber, another of my school chums. She sin- cerely apologized for being late, but she and her hubby had become so ab- sorbed in the newspaper story about the parade the chamber of commerce was planning for the general she forgot all about the time. Wondering who this general was I picked up the evening edition of the Gettysburg Times. I soon found out for there on the front page was a picture of General and Mrs. Ncrm n Vanatta and children. Mrs. Vanatta was no one but another classmate, Ruth Fields. I glanced over the front page and saw that Janet Nease was society edi- tor and Hcllie Burk was in charge of all the comic strips, pictures and prose. I couldn't find the editor's name anyplace, so remembering the news- paper building.was just next door, I decided to go over and find out. I soon found to my profound amazement that the editor was Carolyn Powell. Gosh, I thought Cecil had married her long ago. I asked if I could see her, but it seems she had retired to her penthouse early with a slight headache. I then returned to the hotel and would continue finding the rest of my friends in the morning. . The first thing I did next morning was to go down and look over the new Memorial Hospital and who should I find as the head nurse and supervisor but Miss Hilda Kendall, R. N. I wondered what had happened to all of her sailors. I guessed maybe her ship didn't com in. I then was ,walking leisurely along the street gaping at the tall buildings and ran headlong into Don Horner and his wife. I learned that Don has the most, efficient, modern mechanize farm in the entire state. They were 801118 to the post office, so I invited nyself along. If there hadn't been a cement floor in the building I'd have fallen through it when I saw Gene Hawes 19
