FACULTY MEMBERS CDN LEAVE Major Melchoir Sheads entered the infantry in january, 1942. He received his training at Camp Claiborne, Miss., Camp Shelby, Miss., and Fort Benning, Ga. He is now in the European war theater. Petty Oflicer George Forney has been stationed at Bainbridge, Maryland, since entering the service in june, 1943. He is teaching Physics to Annapolis candidates. Lt. Kathryn Wagaman entered the Army Nurse Corps in January, 1944. She was sent to Camp Meade, Md., and then to Indiantown Gap. She is now serving overseas in the European war theater. Robert D. Fidler entered the Merchant Marine service in june, 1944, and holds the rank of Assistant Purser. He received eighteen weeks' training at Sheepshead Bay, N. Y., and is now at sea, assigned to the S.S. Reaper. Lt. Miriam Waltemyer entered the WAVES in July, 1943. She re- ceived her commission at Smith College, Northampton, Mass., and was then assigned to the Oflice of Naval Procurement in Philadelphia, where she is now stationed. T. Sgt. Robert Diehl received his basic infantry training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and was stationed there from February, 1942, until July, 1944. He was in charge of personnel records. From there he was sent to Camp Ruclcner, Ala., and in October, 1944, he went overseas and is now serving in the European war theater. Miss Ruth Mcllhenny has a leave of absence due to illness.

TO THE CLASS OF 1945 Gloom still overshadows most of the world because of the ravages of war. Lives and resources have been sacrihced to retain our democratic way of life. In time possibly most of the material things will be re- placed. This cannot be true of the lost lives, the maimed bodies, and the warped minds. The survival of civilization is dependent upon mak- ing war impossible in the future. Ir will call for many sacrifices. Ir will demand clear thinking. Here as in war there can be no slackers. Everyone must give his best. Everyone has something to contribute toward making his community, his nation, his world a better place. Wliat will be your contribution? X L. C.
