Good-Bye J.V. ' After having served Gettys- burg College for 14 years, the l Reverend John W. Vannorsdall has been elected University Chaplain and Pastor of the . Church of Christ at Yale Uni- versity, New Haven, CT, ef- fective September 1, 1976. Rev. Vannorsdall will succeed the Rev. William Sloan Coffin Jr. In his new position at Yale,. Vannorsdall will serve as the pastor for the university com- munity, be the preacher for Battell Chapel on the Yale cam- pus, and facilitate the ministry of denominational chaplains assigned to the campus. Dur- ing his tenure at Gettysburg, Chaplain Vannorsdall has been instrumental in the creation of numerous meaningful pro- grams that have distinguished the religious life at Gettysburg College as a major source of vi- tality. He initiated the weekly corporate worship service and special mid-week services in Christ Chapel, and the llCom- munity of Risk, 3 program de- signed for students to grow in the understanding of their own religious tradition. He has provided impetus for the Chapel Council programs that include community service projects and tutorial services offered by volunteering stu- dents, a series of lectures and films brought to the campus, a faculty mid-winter retreat, and the love, sex and marriage seminars. Finding a replace- ment for Rev. Vannorsdall will be a very difficult task for the Gettysburg community. NT$?- f 9
