The College Communion serv- Ice was held in Chrisf Chapel on Wednesday evening. The following morning. Geffysburg College was formally opened wirh a program in Chrisf Chapel. and on Frie day regular class sessions began Hue new semesrer. FRESHMAN CUSTOMS The firmL few weeks of school for GeHysburg College freshmen were ushered in wifh Jrhe wearing of orange dinks and cardboard signs scribbled wifh names and home fowns. Freshmen had fo abide by numerous rules such as carrying marches for upper Classmen. walking only on cerfain pafhs, and using only +he side enfrance +0 GlaHelfer Hall. Cus+oms for +he coeds were enforced by Women's Tribunal: male offenders were punished by Men's Tribunal. Punishmenfs were inflicfed on fresh- men girls af meerings commonly known as line-up in Ifhe gym. Viola+ors of men's cusfoms were subjecfed +0 such punishmen+s as head shaving and wearing clofhes backwards.
