THE PRESIDENTS MESSAGE The annual edition of the SPECTRUM enshrines within its pages a record of associations, friendships and student activities. Gettysburg College believes that an education is designed to prepare a man for real happiness and worthwhile living. An education is primarily a waking-up process. In order to enable a young man to find himself, he spends four years confronted with the best that has been thought and said and done by the world's noblest citizens. The various student activities are designed to enable a young man to hnd his talent, and develop that talent that he may add to the sum total of the world's hap- piness. We enter to learn; we leave to serve! During these four years, those who have entered have been bound together in smaller groups. In the SPECTRUM all of the smaller groups become secondary and the young men of our campus are bound together as Gettysburg College men. In the years that lie ahead may the spirit of comradeship and loyalty which has sweetened the hours of effort reflected in this volume bind together, through- out the span of a lifetime, those who here appear as members of our student body.
