I GETTYSBURG ACADEMY Basketball Manager and Captaln Ed Tenney Coach Earl E lleglel The season was opened w 1th slx teams 1n the cage fl om whlch two strong and worthy teams were plcked to replesent the Academv on the floor Our hopes were propelled by Co ich Zlegler 1nd a better p1lot could be found nowhere Thls ls prox en by the scores of the mam and hard fought xxctorxes The hrst team was graced w1th the presence of two clever Ind snappy forwards namely Young and Bock Both were ex cellent shots md crack peep shooters Young shot touls md scormg from the centex of the floor also far excelled anv of h1s opponents whlle Bock through qulck 1udg1ng ran the scores up on the opposlng teams txme and tlme agaln These two speedy floor workers put pep and llfe lnto the team and were 1n many ways responslble for 1ts successful season Zlmmerman our tall lanky center completely dazed and puzzled many an opposlng pla5.e1 H1s pos1t1on afte1 1ump1ng was at the back guards post and to get the ball past hlm was consldered as a mlracle Our old rellable Bob Wood held down the lunnlng gu 1rd posltlon and strengthened the team greatly on that end Bob b9S1d99 belng a speed boy was a qulck thlnker and made goal after goal by cuttlng mto an unexpected sectlon ot the enemles terrltory Last but not least IS Tenney our blg Hagerstown Boy who took Zlm s place as the rovmg center Hls bulk and fight put fear lnto those he played agalnst and hlS shots flom the center of the floor were spectacular and sure Mentlon mlght be made of Heckey Gracey and Hoffman who played excellent games ln place of thelr contemporarles The season summed up netted us elght C89 xlctorles and 1923 Pug: 79 r ' ' C 1 1 1 1 1 1 . 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 C 1 1 1 W Y V 7. .
