GETTYSBURG ACADEMY Semor Class HISIOIY As we near the end of our educatlonal pursults at dear old G A lt IS only proper and rlght that we should revlew the hlstorlcal events of our noble class ln ltS three years exlstence A few of the twenty one members of our orlglnal class of the Fall of 1920 are not wlth us now but the mayorlty of our fellow classmates have loyally remamed wlth us The class passed through lts first year w1th but few contrlbutlons to the act1v1 tles of the school Three of the best athletes of that year were members of our class and we would probably have had another lf R W Wood our most popular member had not become 1ll wlth appendlcltls After w1sh1ng each other a happy vacatlon we left school ln June for our homes In September of 1921 we arrlved back at school to greet our old class mates and welcome the new Many of our class took part 1n the act1v1t1es of that scholastlc year Some of the best athletes on our teams were members of our class VVhen June of success and we departed for our respectlve homes for another vacatlon In the Fall of 1922 we assembled for the last hard lap and welcomed many new members 1nto the fold After Settllng down we organlzed Wlth R W Wood as presldent Chas F Barclay VICE presldent and MISS M Jane Roblnson as Secretary and Treasurer Most of the football team four of the V3FS1ty basketball team and SIX of the Varslty baseball team were members of our class mcludlng many of the scrubs It was ln thls our last year that the first track team ln the hlstory of the 1nst1tut1on competed upon the clnder path Most of the or ganlzatlons of the school thls year have been under the dlrectlon of the Senlors In summmg up the 3Ct1Vlt1eS throughout our class hlstory and deemmg them a success we must not forget to express our thanks and recogmze our obllgatlons to our Masters who have corrected us when we erred and strove to help us ln our upward Journey We feel that we have been successful for the most part and firmly belleve that success w1ll crown us ln the future lf we contlnue w1th the zeal of the past Page 37 1922 rolled around we justly felt that the year was a complete
