You more than anyone have realized the value of the learning you received during the many hours you spent in work and study at this school. Many of you have put that learning and knowledge to best use and all of you have benefited by it in many, many ways. Many of you have been called upon to serve your country during emergencies and have responded willingly and have done your job honorably and well. Many more will be called upon and we know they will follow you in true G.H.S. spirit and contribute their know-how and ability gained in these classrooms. We are proud to have shared a common goal with you in preparing for a diploma from a school that we will always take pride in, and a school that we will always place first in our castles of memories. ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE To those of you in the Junior and Senior classes, I extend my congratulations for the manner in which you have developed this beautiful annual. It is a reflection of the abilities that you have acquired in school, and in a way, it shows your fear- lessness in meeting a challenge. May you utilise this fearlessness and ability as you face the challenges of daily living after graduation. The rest of us may again be pictured in our newer annuals and each new picture should show us on a higher level than the last. This is our challenge] Shall we meet it? It has indeed been a pleasure to have co- sponsored the publication of this 1951 yearbook. It took hours of work on the parts of the students but they have ac- complished something to be proud of and are to be congratulated on a Job well don«w Although it was not an easy task to do, they went to work uncomplainingly and did the Job knowing that, their efforts would benefit many. Now they pass it on to you complete in all its beauty, with the hope that you will display it proudly and cherish it as a priceless souvenir. May you receive many, many hours of enjoyment while scanning through the book often, and may your every memory be a pleasant one of the days spent in this school. John C. Elkins B.S. Only six of the twelve began in the same school that they are about to graduate from, but Old Man Fate saw fit to double this number and make it an even dozen and call it the Senior Class of 1951 We were exposed to 20 different teachers, covered $0 different books, and spent approximately 12,960 hours in class-room study, but strangely enough we don’t know everything. No, we are an average group, endowed with no genuises but boasting of no morons. We do sincerely believe, however, that we have grown steadily in physi- cal and mental power during these years and feel cap- able of shouldering any responsibility whether it be pushing a pencil, mastering the soil, or manning a gun in Korea. Above all we have learned the value of liv- ing a clean, full, and wholesome life and have dedicated ourselves to the betterment of mankind in any way that presents itself as an opportunity. Yes, we are now men and women and our hearts swell with pride when we realize that we have earned a very coveted award, a highschool diploma.
