DECK DEPARTMENT LT OSBORNE FIRST LIEUTENANT GERMANTOWN ' s Deck Department is comprised of three divisions; First, Sec- ond and Third. First and Second Divisions are the Boatswain ' s Mates and their non- rated Seamen. Their primary responsibilities on board include the painting and pres- ervation of all topside spaces. Along with this they also man all special evolutions such as sea and anchor detail, flight quarters, and lA LCAC. Third Division is manned by the Fire Controlmen and Gunner ' s Mates. They are responsible for the maintenance and operation of all weapons on board. Everything from the CIWS, a computer controlled gattling gun, to the .45 caliber pistol worn bv the Pettv Officer of the Watch, while in port. GERMANTOWN is proud of her Deck Department. Our BMs, FCs and GM ' s and nonrated Seamen work many long and hard hours. All the training has paid off because there isn ' t a better Deck Department anywhere.
