The Navigalots A Dedication to Past, Yet Not Forgotten, Inspirations N We, as students, seldom recognize the great impact our teachers have had on us until we have graduated and moved on to college and sometimes not even until we become established in our careers. Rarely, if ever, do we express our gratitude to those people who have made it their career to educate us. However, we should not overlook our present opportunity to ex- press our thanks. This page serves as a tribute to two of Germantown's past inspirations. They retired at the beginning of last year, but they are still remembered because of the mark they left on the many students attending Germantown now as well as on those who have graduated. As a tribute to the teachers who have retired since 1980, the an- nual staff would like to present a plaque to the school in recogni- tion of their past achievement as our mentors. Mr. Walter Burnette taught 33 years in Shelby County, 26 of those years at Germantown as a math teacher. Mrs. Viola Stovail taught in Shelby County for 30 years, 9 of those at Germantown as a home economics teacher. Mrs. Ruth Michke taught in Shelby County for 22 years, 8 of those at Germantown as an English teacher. i I I I I I I l E II E g g 1! I: E
