At the club meetings the members learned about the Opera and the music and history it involved. The sponsor of the club, Mrs. Savell, was the director of the Choral Department's three choirs. They heard both live and recorded. Mr. Terry, the sponsor, put lit- tle restriction on the forms of music that the members listened to. Live performances were given by groups like Loyola Univ. per- formers, groups from Memphis State Univ., and professional musicians from the area. To qualify for membership, one must acquire 25 points gained from excel- lence in one of the above speaking events. The Germantown High School chapter was estab- lished in early 1978.
