TRIBUTE THOSE LEAVING VIISS ELSIE ALLEN In February of 1915 Miss Allen left the Hollingsworth School to become a teacher of Home Economic it the Germantown High School During her many years of gracious dignified and conscientious service lvfiss Allen wa engaged in xarious actixities She was faculty ponsor for many graduating classes She designed mot of the costumes used in school performances and under her uperxision many were made by her students In recent years Miss Allen wis Chairman of the Faculty Social Committee Professionally Miss Allen beliexed in continuing :ni proxement in serxice This she accomplished by attending afternoon classes and summer schools at Columbia Lehigh Temple and the University of Pennsylxania With her retirement from teaching we are sure she will find time to do the many interesting things she alway wanted to do To her we extend our sincerest and best wi hes The Germantown High School Iatchstring will always be out for Miss Allen and we hope she will come to see us often MISS ALICE B CHUBB Germantown High School was unusually fortunate In having Miss Chubb on the faculty for many years No one could possibly be more delightful and charming to know or more gifted and successful as a teacher To a thorough knowledge of her subject she added enthusiasm courtesy gentleness and unlimited patience We mis seeing her here but we congratulate her on her retirement ind we are happy U, kmw, thu dr last she ha time to do oine of the many thing that interest her Our best wishes to you MRS KATHRYN S MORISON Mr Ixathryn Morison who had been a member of our faculty for twenty five years retired in une 1947 She was best known a the blue eyed little lady who taught office practice in Room 114 Her former pupils may be found in many responsible positions ranging from the smallest business firm to the Curriculum Office of the Board of Education which at present employs four of our graduates Many of us faculty and student body alike miss her kindly smile and helping hand in school Mr Morison was nexer too busy to come to our aid fortunately we can still xisit her and receive the hearty welcome we remember o well MISS HELEN LAMBERTON Miss Helen Lamberton a member of the Mathematics Department retired in August 1947 Miss Lamberton a graduate of the Girls High School receixed the degrees of Bachelor and Master of Arts in Mathematic and Physics from Bryn Mawr college Miss Lamberton taught a number of years in the Germantown Girl s Annex before the present building was built She was therefore a member of the Germantown High School faculty from its beginning At one time she wa a class sponsor and at the time of her retirement sho. had been for many years a co chairman of the committee in charge of Organization Her interest was always in the indixidual pupil and nothing was too much trouble to secure the best interests of the pupil She heliexed firmly in standards and maintained high tandards for herself and in her classes The Mathematics Department and the Germantown High School extend their best wisne to Mi s Lamberton in her new attixities and say to her Vvfell done good and luthful te ither MISS ALMA H RYAN Mis Alma H Ryin wio has taught in Germantown High Schm ol since March 1946 ha had a xaried career in the Phil idelphia chool system After teaching in the elementary grades for rexeral years he became a Superxisor of Handwriting in the Philadel phia Public Schools in 1925. In 1936 Miss Ryan was appointed to 'i teaching position in the Commercial Department of South Philadelphia Girls High. Miss Ryan s outstanding characteristics unselfishness and the strong desire to aid others prompted her to resign in September I9-17 go that she might engage in social service work. Her iiany friends in the Philadelphi. .chool system wish her continued success and much satisfaction in her new held of endeavor.
