I'aCli Ym Placing a well-balanced squad on the field, Mr. Baron, coach of the track team, has not been able to witness ine results of his handiwork up to the time this article was written. A hint of the team's power was given on April 27th and 28th when a selected group of runners distinguished themselves at the fifteenth annual Penn Relay. This team of runners, coupled with a team of fieldfmen coached by Joseph Bannak, have shown up well in their first two encounters with Central and Overbrook. While the team was not too im- pressive in the meet with Central, they distinguished themselves when they were unfortunate enough to lose to a strong Overbrook team by 'llfz points. Outstanding members of the team were: Bob Moser, Ken Kellner, john McAfee, hurdles, Gene Watts, Bob Burgess, sprintsg Ken Dixon, Joe Sei' gert, Bill Lichten, Bob Thomas, distanccg Bob Miles, john Miller, Monty Gardener, pole vaultg Bob Lowry, broad jump: Bob Johnson, john Miller, Bob Ona Izzmdred 0110 Miles, Ralph Guthrie, high jump, and Ralph Guthf rie, shot put. John Miller, Monty Gardner, pole vault, Bob Lowry, broad jumpg Bob johnson, John Miller, Bob Miles, Ralph Guthrie, high jump, and Ralph Guthrie, shot put. Though lacking in manpower, as seems to be a general thing in today's world, the musclefflexing men of the gym team made a commendatory record for themselves this past season. Wiiiiiing meets with Girard and South Philadel' phia, and placing fifth in the Public High Gym' nastic's Championships, proved to be the prme highlights of the season. Two boys, Bob Miles and Hugo Stein, returned from the 1944 team to aid the squad in its ay complishments. Miles, perhaps the most outstandl ing of all the team members, placed fourth in the championships and was noted for his work on the side horse.

-l-ennis Although not looking too impressive at the time of this writing, the tennis team, coached by Mr. Jacobs and captained by Leon Scott, may have some impressive laurels to bring back to Germantown at the conclusion of the season. Golf Teeing off, and replacing all necessary divots, the golf team seems to be of the timber that will make a good showing for itself this season. Coached by Paul Kehs, and captained by Bonnie Fraser, the team is composed of such Qi! ff S- farm, ., W Ver, U X if tl llllrllllf Held up for three weeks by poor Weather, the team showed a lack of practice in matches held against Penn Charter and West Philadelphia. The team is composed of Bill McKinley, Nor- bert Aicher, Ed Haines, Harry Schuster, singles, and Dick Klosterman and Leon Scott, doubles. stalwarts as Bill Bencker, Rich Benner, Dan Fera, Dick Van Vranken, and Jim Bresnan. While it is too early, at the time of this writ' ing, to enumerate any of the match scores, an excellent season seems to be in the making. X ix I ll SIN will - ng if lf ..
