SECOND ROW: Janet Ebright, Vice-President, Marcia Buck, Treasurer, Maribelle Ankeney, Secretary. Class Motto The door to success is labeled 'Push'. In the early autumn of 1936, eleven small members of our present class climed the hill to the red schoolhouse which has become so dear to all of us. A number of students from the surrounding district schools enrolled in our class the fifth year. During the first six years of school, it seemed as though it would be ages until we should become Seniors and graduate. After entering the seventh grade, we found that the years sped along much too quickly. How we looked up to the Freshmen the day they welcomed us into high school with a party held in the gymnasium! But we felt very big the next year when we, in turn, gave a party to the eighth-graders. Our Junior year proved to be a busy one, with lots of hard work and fun. In November, under the direction of Miss Stephenson, we B. 8 K. FRIENDLY SERVICE Bob Stettler and Karl Jones Mobilgas and Oil presented a successful class play, Inner Wil- lie . In May, we gave the Seniors a formal banquet at the Eaton Country Club. Our Senior year was completely filled with various activities: paper drives, bake sales, a magazine sale. a Halloween Carnival, Hobo Day , a rummage sale, and a class play. The reward for the hard work put into these acti- vities will be a trip to Washington, D. C. after graduation. As our last year in high school draws to a close, we realize how much our various teach- ers have helped us. We especially wish to thank our Senior High advisors: Mrs. Clarke, Miss Harris, Miss Stephenson, and Miss Stan- field. We sincerely hope that you will not forget us, for we shall always have pleasant memories of our school days. ASKINS AND MOYER 9 Sani-System Cleaning 10 N. Main St. Germantown eniorh Ofowf cm ridlfanftenlf We, the class of nineteen hundred and forty-eight of Germantown High School, Montgomery County, Ohio, deeming it pru- dent to indicate in due legal form while in full possession of our faculties what disposi- tion of our talents is to be made after our de- parture, do make, publish, and declare our last will and testament in manner and form following: ARTICLE I. Item I. Our Senior privileges. Item II. Our shining example for our fel- low students. Item III. Front row seats in Assembly. Item IV. Publication of the Cardinal. Item V. The chance of profiting by our mistakes. ARTICLE II. Each member of the class of '48 has an in- dividual gift to bestow upon the members of the class of '49. Maribelle Ankeney gives Jerry Allen her book On Going Steady with the Male Graduate . 5 5 Evelyn Stump inherits Shirley Apple's var- ious musical responsibilities. George Bishop's resolution to drive under 20 m.p.h. is given to Dora Fugate. Maybe it will be a help to her when she gets the Cadil- lac she has been dreaming about. Bill Laughlin inherits his towering height from Paul Long and Harold Butler. Dick Clensy and Chuck Cline bequeath their basketball talents to Virgil Winglewich. John Coffman and Jr. Ratliff leave their quietness in study hall to Herman Clasen. Heaven only knowsthat Herman can use it. Eileen Crickmore's talent for writing stories is given to Carolyn Moore. Roberta Yarnell will adopt Betty Dale's slogan of Love 'em and Leave 'ern . To Gene Lake, Gene Eldridge gives his permanent QI mean naturally curly hairj. Donald Emrick's super-salesmanship is passed along to Andy Bayes. Joan Focht leaves her sense of humor to Bob Bailey. Eunice Fritz and Betty Rieger give 'their title, The Engaged to Barbara Millat. Norma Boyer inherits Barbara Guntle's pleasant smile. Shirley Harden's seriousness toward school work and her rule, Don't date, study late , are given to June Decker. I0 Bob Johnson gives his angelic expression to Chuck Lowe. Here's hoping it will be as useful to Chuck as it has been to Bob. Earl Reed's interest in the Sophomore Class is given to Doug Gilbert. Esther Windhorst accepts Joan Marker's various activities. I am sure that Esther will do as good a job as Joan has. Jo Ann Kuch's record of being neither absent nor tardy is given to Eddie Durst. May he cherish it. Betty Kraus' secretarial ability goes to Mary Lee Barkalow. Bob Kepler leaves Jerry Zech the desire to leave. Why all the hurry? John Emley receives Jim Steed's studious attitude. Let's hope that it does more for John than it has for Jim. Janet Ebright's math skills go to Deloris Grossnickle. Donald Little wills his Wolf call to Bob Creech. Don Wilson inherits the artistic talents of Don Stroup and Ernie Curry. Maybe this will give Wilson something to do during his spare time. Dick McDonald's way with women goes to Ned Phillabaum. To Norman Smith, Bob Abney and Bob Theiss leave the suggestion of counting to 10 before losing his temper. Anna Neff, Sarah Southers, and Mary Up- ton leave their home economics talents to Dixie Eldridge and Rosalene Fox. Marcia Buck and Patricia Payler will let Beverly Schultz have their long walk to school. Bill Rettich has decided to give his scienti- fic talents to Don Pieratt. Isabel McTavish and Joann Wolfenbarger inherit Marianne Grubbs' bottle of peroxide. Shirley Strand leaves her typing speed to Virginia Broaddus and Edith Ratliff. Marilyn Zech gives Doris Dechant her en- thusiasm for all types of athletics. Relma Heitz is willing to let Shirley An- keney have that unusual giggle. The foregoing instrument was signed, pub- lished, and declared by the Senior Class of 1948 to be their last will and testament in the presence of each other on the 26th day of May, 1948. ,THE SENIDRS '-- TWELVE I YEARS AGO.
